Cat Girl (1957)

Barbara Shelley's first horror movie (and it's not by Hammer!) is a loose (unacknowledged) remake of the Val Lewton/Jacques Tourneur 1942 classic Cat People, about a woman returning to her ancestral home to claim an inheritance, only to find that there is a family curse of being possessed by the spirit of a leopard.

The cast are okay - but Shelley's class (and beauty) stand out a mile (hard to believe she was only 25 at the time). A couple of nice scenes, but - Shelley notwithstanding - it's not a patch on the original. 5/10

Gothamsknight do you just rewatch the same twenty movies over and over again? :funny:
I actually do rewatch what I call "comfort movies" fairly often based on my mood haha. There's definitely people on the opposite end of that spectrum that don't rewatch movies for years no matter how much they like them. Stuff like the Raimi trilogy, Nolan trilogy, and the Indiana Jones movies I do a few times a year though.

Lightyear, loved it SOX stole the damn movie (as we all knew he was gonna do).

One of those movies that either feels like a stage play or was based on a stage play. Anyway it’s good. If you like one of those limited location Hitchcockian thrillers like Dial M for Murder and stuff like that this is like that with gangsters.
