i've read on a few other boards that the standard one on your pc isn't the best for de fragment of your HD, so can anyone recommend a better one out there
 
Unless you purchase one...the standard one for windows should suffice.
 
ok this is worrying me, when i started the defrag i had around 20GB of space, i just checked on the progress and i now only have 12GB

what the hell, i'm not 100% computer literate but i know that shouldn't happen

yep i lost near 10gb, there appears to be a lot of this happening over the web with vista. i did a system restore and got the majority of it back

i may try Auslogics defragger, it's got a few good reviews

All of them cost something....but if you are having problems try running defrag from your command prompt, write this down: defrag c: -f then hit enter the good then about doing it from command prompt is that it bypasses all the windows crap.
