Whats the best program for reducing video size?

I've recorded a video of myself drumming for band auditions, but the file size is always too big to send anywhere. Just wondered what the best program for reducing file size would be.

I use Vegas Video for my personal video editing software needs.

But Vegas Video is pretty expensive, but there are ways to get it....without expense.

I understand Is there any free or shareware programs. All I need to really do is reduce the video filesize.
