What's the Last Book You Read/Finished? - Part 1 Page 1 Chapter 1 Paragraph - Part 4

I'm your huckleberry-- Val Kilmer

Rereading William Petter Blatty's The Exorcist for about the third or fourth time. I prefer it to the movie, as well produced and relatively faithful as that is.

A little anecdote for you. A former client of mine was a teacher. She told me that the Religious Studies teacher at her school was - as you'd expect - very religious (a devout Christian). Because of that he had always avoided reading The Exorcist. A couple of years back he took a holiday on the coast. He went into a bookshop looking for something to read on the beach and saw The Exorcist on the shelf. Something made him pick it up and thumb through it. For some reason he decided that after all this time he'd give it a go, and he bought the book. However, lying on the beach reading it he became so disgusted that he hurled it into the sea. When he got back from his holiday he told the other teachers what he'd done. A few days later, one of them went into a bookshop and bought The Exorcist. They then submerged the book in water, put it into his school locker - still soaking wet - for him to find, and waited for the scream. They didn't have to wait long! :funny:
