What's the Last Book You Read/Finished? - Part 1 Page 1 Chapter 1 Paragraph - Part 4

The Ghost Woods -- CJ Cooke

Interesting basic idea; if the author had focused half as much on that as they did on cramming the ludicrous amount of sexuality/racial diversity into a story that takes place in a small, isolated rural community in late 1950s/early 1960s Scotland it could have been very good. Even the local farmhand was called Abdul :eyeroll:

Vadelmavenepakolainen -- Miika Nousiainen

The Man Who Died Twice -- Richard Osman

A Haunting on the Hill -- Elizabeth Hand

Poor attempt at a sequel to the Shirley Jackson classic The Haunting of Hill House. When are some writers going to realise that it doesn't matter how 'scary' you make a book if the characters are all such pains in the a$$ that you don't care what happens to them.

Harmin paikka -- Leena Lehtolainen

No Plan B -- Lee Child and Andrew Child

The House That Horror Built -- Christina Henry

Poor. Based around the idea that [MAJOR SPOILER] 'Definitely not Guillermo del Toro' murdered his wife and brat of a son and his house is haunted by their restless spirits. Interesting premise, but wasted.

The Angel of Indian Lake -- Stephen Graham Jones

Pretty good conclusion to Jones' Lake Witch slasher trilogy (think Scream, but supernatural and not funny)

Rankings,

1. Don't Fear the Reaper (2nd book)
2. My Heart is a Chainsaw (1st book)
3. The Angel of Indian Lake (3rd book)

Central character Jade Daniels is one hell of a final girl. I really hope Jones returns to her one day.
