The ONLY reason rockets and capsules are designed the way they are is purely because its cost prohibitive to get a whole like of material in space..as it stands it costs a minimum of 10,000 dollars just to get a pound of anything to space.

You may think "what about the ISS" its big and uses alot of material..sure but that took over a decade to built and the designs of the structures are basically interlocking pods, tubes and blocks. Very basic and minimalist design.

But a company in Canada just put in for a patent on a type of space elevator that IF they can get it to work should make launching material much cheaper. To the tune of 100s of dollars or less.

that being said..WHICH FICTIONAL SPACE SHIP SHOULD BE BUILT FIRST:

I find your lack of Discovery One disturbing.

From the list, the only craft that is remotely feasible is 2001’s Discovery. Therefore, it would be the first one we build. :word:

The Battlestar Galactica. She can take an absolute beating and can give as good as she gets. And the CIC is sensibly located in the heart of the ship and fortified with no frivolous viewports. This...

would never happen to the Galactica's bridge. This ol' girl...

...can shake off missiles and nukes without any shields.

There is the Battlestar Pegasus, too.

She's bigger, has more firepower, and she requires a fraction of the crew required to operate the Galactica.

But if we are setting aside aesthetics, the obvious answer is the Borg Cube.

you dont think eagle one is feasible now?

IMO BOTH of those could be built today...but I added them for pop culture points they get..

...build first??
Were not even close to most of the fantastic ones listed so far.
We're still fumbling in our own orbit trapped in our solar system, never mind bending/warping space.

The ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

I was surprised that showed up in The Force Awakens, because when Han Solo originally said that, I thought he was just making crap up to impress an old man and a boy to hire him. A parsec is a measurement of space, not time.
