Even before the vaunted Marvel Cinematic/TV Universe characters crossing over was a rare though not uncommon occurrence on TV.

Discuss the meetings between everything from Magnum and Jessica Fletcher to the New Girl's cast traveling to NYC to share the screen with the detectives of Brooklyn 99.

The Tommy Westphall universe is cool insane **** but defies mere description here.

I don't get the hate that idea gets. It's just a fun flight of fancy that is mind blowing in it's implications if you do take it seriously.

I'm sure there have been others before but the first one I remember is a Batman and Green Hornet crossover.

The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman

Happy Days and Mork and Mindy

Magnum PI and Murder She Wrote

Buffy and Angel

I'm not a fan of crossovers in general, but New Girl's Jess on Brooklyn Nine-Nine went reasonably well.

I'm not sure I could ever count Mork/Happy Days, Buffy/Angel or Austin/Summers as crossovers per se, thoughI know others do simply because one show was a spinoff of the other.

I love the Tommy Westphall universe, and glad it lives on to this day through the Chicago shows.

Mad About You and Seinfeld

(Kramer makes an appearance on MAY)

Yep, the crew from L&O SVU crossed into Chicago PD.

Tommy has one hell of an imagination.

Do people count the sort of "comedic" crossovers? Like the series finale of NEWHART? What about the finale of FRESH PRINCE?

I do, and I think that revealing that a minor, one-note character on one hit series was the twin sister of a main character on another hit was a genius way for NBC to cross-over Mad About You and Friends.

And a great way for Kudrow to cash two paychecks. :sly:

I just read about a doozy of a crossover that while it didn't actually happen on TV included a mess of TV properties in book form. Apparently they made novels about the Gary 7 character from the Assignment Earth episode of Star Trek which was a back door pilot. The novels have Gary getting involved with the Eugenics Wars which pits him against Khan and the scientists that created them. According to what I read in the novels the scientists that created the super men like Khan were the same group that were featured in The Pretender TV show, and they were also the same people that Father from the Linda Hamilton Beauty And The Beast show worked for. That writer Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon'd the **** out that.

It was technically Mork/Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley/Happy Days.

And I missed the B99/New Girl crossover.

There was a Hawaii 5-0/NCIS LA Crossover and Bones/Sleepy Hollow.

Did this actually happen? Or just for the picture?

Back in the 60's, CBS did some crossovers in their "country" shows....

Edgar Buchanan, Frank Cady, Linda Henning, and Lori Saunders - regulars on PETTICOAT JUNCTION also appeared as the same characters on THE BEVERLEY HILLBILLIES and GREEN ACRES.

A bunch of other actors form PETTICOAT JUNCTION also appeared as the same character in GREEN ACRES.

I think the king of crossovers is actor Richard Belzer.......Belzer appeared as the same character - Detective John Munch - in these shows...

HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS
THE X-FILES
LAW & ORDER
THE BEAT
LAW & ORDER: TRIAL BY JURY
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT
THE WIRE
30 ROCK
UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT
LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT

In the late 50's, WARNER BROTHERS was producing several western TV shows and did a few crossovers.

Clint Walker starred in CHEYENNE as Cheyenne Bodie and appeared as the same character in MAVERICK.

James Garner starred in MAVERICK as Bret Maverick and appeared as the same character in SUGARFOOT.

Jack Kelly starred in MAVERICK as Bart Maverick and appeared as the same character in SUGARFOOT.

Will Hutchins starred in SUGARFOOT as Tom Brewster and appeared as the same character in MAVERICK, CHEYENNE, and BRONCO.

Ty Hardin starred in BRONCO as Bronco Layne and appeared as the same character in MAVERICK, CHEYENNE, and SUGARFOOT.

That's great ^ Didn't realize they had so many characters with connected shows at once.

It's a promo pic.

To bad the Sweathogs at the 12th precinct would have been funny.
I could imagine them compelled to go on ride-alongs with their respective mentors:
-Vinnie Barbarino with Philip K. Fish
-Freddie Washington with Ron Harris
-Juan Epstein with Miguel "Chano" Amenguale
-Arnold Horshack with "Wojo" Wojciehowicz
At first for laughs, feigning they have nothing in common, by the end coming to respect each-other.

Loved the Bionic-Sasquatch crossover!
I can't believe the Bionic Dog: Maximillion didn't get his own show, would have totally watched that!

Another not mentioned, Robert B. Parker's characters:
(Robert Urich) Spenser: For Hire and A Man Called Hawk(Avery Brooks), existed in the same universe, by way of spin-off, which seems to count here.

If so one of the biggest: Star Trek had a few same universe shows (and movies) on at once.

Hercules and Xena

On the Emergency pilot Reed and Malloy of Adam-12 were the police officers on the scene of a rescue. Later during the run of the show Firefighter Gage was watching an Adam-12 episode on TV and spent the remainder of the episode trying to find out what happened when Station 51 got called on a run before the show ended.

Similarly on Simon& Simon the brothers once mentioned Magnum PI as a TV show and then later the network did two PI/Simom crossovers with the brothers going to Hawaii and Magnum going to San Diego.

It is not actually a crossover but the fictional street gangs on The Shield had a second life as fictional street gangs on Sons of Anarchy.

Back when Third Watch was still available on syndication you could see part one of its crossover with a one year and done Medical Investigations show and never see how the Third Watch cast were saved. Also Dr Lewis from ER showed up in New York looking for her sister.
