Civil War Where Would Nick Fury Have Stood in CW?

Simple question with I am sure a myriad of possible answers. Former head of SHIELD, currently underground, what would Sam Jackson's character's take on the issues and conflicts at play in the movie have been in your mind?

You know I was wondering why Fury and Hill didn't show up...but not that it bugged me I was just curious...

This film would have been a good place for Fury to show up. It makes me wonder why the Russo Bros decided to have him absent even though he was present at the end of AoU, looking like he was helping out at the new Avengers facility.

He probably would have ignored it, since he wouldn't follow commands or waste his time trying to control everyone. He would have told them they can fight each other or go after what is really going on.

Hill works for stark now so she will have to stand with her employer. fury will have nothing to do with the accord , he is in the wind now and doesn't work for anyone , he wouldn't get involved and nor should he.

I don't think he would involve himself , he's supposed to be dead to the world at large.

But he IS alive. Him not involving himself into the conflict doesn't mean he wouldn't have thoughts as to the other characters actions and so forth.

He could have opinions but he ran an agency riddled with HYDRA and his messing with the tesserect is what brought us to Thanos' attention and he was part of that entire Project Insight debacle - creating it and bringing it down. What sway would he hold with the UN? What high ground could he hold with The Avengers?

As for his position, he would probably be for control over The Avengers - if it meant him in control.

There's a reason he wasn't there during the comics - because he would have been a much smarter enforcer than Hill and it probably wouldn't have escalated into the mess it became. If he had any power left in the MCU that might be the case as well.

I think he would have signed with Cap and would have had a big split with Maria Hill, since she is employed with Stark Industries. In my opinion, Fury learned a valuable lesson about the government thanks to Hydra being secretly nesting within S.H.I.E.L.D. for decades post World War II. He wouldn't have trusted them.

Maria was employed by Stark but she was still working with Fury since she was informing Fury of stuff in Ultron without telling Stark or The Avengers. She might not have kept her job with Stark too long after that revelation.

This. He'd definitely be playing both sides, and would be the perfect solution to the issues both sides have.

In essence, he'd be the happy middle ground that would render the conflict of this movie irrelevant.

Fury wouldn't have signed them after what happened in TWS. Hill would've, as a Stark employee.

I'm still a bit surprised these two were not in it, and not even mentioned. Especially Hill since she had a decent sized part in the comics about this.
