I've been thinkin it over for awhile, and seeing as how the casting at Marvel is just pwning right now, I think I know just who could be the perfect choice for MK. :ninja:

Ready?

MARK WAHLBERG.

Yeah, Mark ****in Wahlberg. He was Oscar nominated for his awesome role in The Departed, and proved to be one of hell of a top notch actor. I think Mark can handle playing one character, with three other IDs. Jake Lockley, taxi driver, Steven Grant, billionaire, and Moon Knight, badass.

Heh, Mark Wahlberg, Mark Spector. :o

Seriously though, aside from bein a good actor, Mark got ripped up, and still is, for the flick Shooter. And you gotta have someone like that to play MK.

Thoughts?

i can see it. but not because he is an oscar nominee. oscars means nothing in this genre, x-men told us that pretty clear.

i like marky mark, he is pretty cool and has potential of a superhero body. MK is an interresting character and the comic was at it's best in the early 80s i think. but i fear it may be a bit too similar to batman to ever make it to the movie.

Mark Wahlberg, didn't he play the "Sausage King" in a movie once? Maybe he could play in Giant Sized Man-Thing-y

And the dark tone of it.......I agree with you, VERY similar to BATMAN.

Butler could do it. He's palyed mercenary. Daniel Craig would be good if not for the Bond deal.

My pick. MatthewMcConaughy. He can play mean, is always in shape, and has nothing going right now. If they do a good back story with the mercenary route, and have him a bit ...unbalanced, with the split personalities thing and keep the audience guessing about the so called powers and whether or not he's crazy till the very end and he can fight someone during the full moon phase and doing something extreme.

But if you make it R rated and show him as wicked as he's been shown to be lately then it can work. Just don't dumb it down like they did the Punisher. If it's good, they will come:cwink:

Marky Mark is a feet too short to play Marc Spector imo. He plays a good tough guy on film but even then he looks kind of small on screen. I'm not sure if he can play schizophrenic well either.

Thats a pretty good pick, I don't know how short he is, but there is usually ways around that, similar sized supporting cast or smaller, angles, and other computer techniques and crap like that.

Too much like Batman... Meh, I find a lot of superheros have parallel origins and characterization, but Spector and the schizoid angle, and egyptian gods, and mercenary background... Not exactly the same as Batman, their both billionaires though right?
There's a lot of Billionaire heroes though, Iron Man and Iron Fist are also similar to Batman, but each have their own thing that separates them as characters.

Mark Walhberg is listed as 5'7" on imdb. Even though he's buff he does not look big on screen in his films.

Moon Knight and Batman are both rich, use gadgets and have several alter egos, but the similarity ends there. I'd think Iron man is more like batman but thats a whole other topic i suppose.

Now that Iron Man has secured Favreau, most likely for an Iron Man II, the original director they asked , I wonder if a Moon Knight movie would interst him even though its not on Marvel's film list.

MK has some similarities with Batman but they are about as close as IM.

He wears a white costume, he was a mercenary before he was a super-hero, has severe multiple personality disorder, can be much more brutal with his enemies in combat, worships an Egyptian god of vengeance and sometimes has powers which gives him superior statistics under the full moon.

This would work great on film as long as they did it well. if they don't do a good job executing (ala DD) Marvel should go back to the drawing board a few years later to try again.

They should get Ron Moore to write it. Del Toro would be excellent to direct MK.

This has to be extremely dark to work. Depending on how they use the mystical angle they can either do it like Blade to combine reality with fantasy elements or make it uber-gritty like Batman Begins.

As for director... I'd go with David Fincher.

Mark Wahlberg as Marc Spector.

MK is different enough from Batman. MK doesn't emphasizes on fear this, fear that but his methods doesn't need any more introduction; they are gruesome - maiming of face, bloods flying all around because he's using sharp edged weapons. I think it's one of the best Marvel franchises for movie because its almost horror-like take of vigilantism.

Marky Mark could work. His background has almost as much in common with Spector's as Robert Downey Jr.'s does with Tony Stark's. (They're both from Jewish backgrounds, for example, though Spector's image changes were much more convincing.) Still, I think a more blue collar backgound for the actor (Spector was from the Lower West Side, after all) wouldn't hurt. How about Oded or Brandon Fehr?
