Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

While definitely possible that it was divorced of Whedon, considering what we know now, why someone might simply be "over" the show needs to be considered in context.
I don't think so tbh. Especially after 4 seasons. It isn't anything out of the norm and she's never implied that it was bts that made her want to ensure she'd never come back.

There is a lot of things people never talked about until very recently.

But Andrew is like the one official bisexual rep on the show. :o

Hmm. I considered Willow bisexual and Andrew fully gay. I thought both of them were posturing some.

Regardless, they can use the new cast to represent whoever they want to represent.

He has a hetero moment in Angel.

I wouldn’t mind seeing characters that got ****ty deaths back and get justice but I also wouldn’t mind it at all if they ignored all that and just focused on new stuff. Probably best to move forward anyway. Of all the old characters, I would love to see them bring Eliza out of retirement to play Faith again. Other than that I’m more interested in the new.

What's everyone's thoughts on potentially bringing in Fray? I haven't read it in over a decade but I remember enjoying it. Maybe a spinoff?

Its the only piece of comics that I strongly believe should remain canon. And would love a live action or animated adaption one day.

NGL, when I first heard they were doing a sequel/reboot before reading up on it, I was kinda hoping it would be Fray. There's just a lot of potential there imo.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Star 'Hopeful' for Reboot Role After 'Unjust' End in Original Series

Cordelia is one of my favourite characters but this whole bringing back dead characters thing is a slippery slope. It’s not like it’s going to erase the icky Connor storyline so if they do end up going this route for Cordelia or for any other character for that matter, I hope they’re very careful with it and do it in a way that’s good for the story they’re trying to tell.

I would say "You're Welcome" erased the icky Connor storyline since we knew it wasnt Cordelia driving the plane.

Cordelia is the oNLY dead character I can see returning and with good reason. But only if she is now a higher being working with TPTB as an agent.

It is just a shame that Charisma signed on for one script only to be blindsided with a new script after she signed on for YW. Talk about double whammy.

I like Cordy, in Buffy and then in Angel (though I obviously didn't love her in s4, and missed her in s5). Not sure she needs to be in this show though. Seems more satisfying on a meta level than a story one. She wasn't close with Buffy. Talk of bringing back dead characters is a bit concerning really. I hope they approach with some class and restraint.

If they brought her back, i wouldn't think it would be to have coffee with Buffy. It'd be about stopping some big bad or apocalypse.

Is it really concerning to want to reverse Joss's ****ty writing? No one is really talking about undoing Joyce's death. The big 2 people want is to undo a prime "bury your gays" and one that was due to a personal vendetta because of an accidental pregnancy.

Only one of those was crappy writing and that was Cordelia.

Sure, the other one was just because he didn't know how to use the character and his own personal demons keeps him from handling healthy relationships.

A new show with a mostly new cast is not the best place to retcon unpopular choices from 20 years ago. For many reasons, not least because the characters you'd want around to react won't even be there.

Amber Benson refused to sign a long-term contract with the show to become a series regular. This is the main reason she was never in the credits and killing her off was kind of inevitable at that point.
