Who is Sadie Sink playing?

Well , here are some possibilities, and my two cents on them .

1743791638069.png
Gwen Stacy/ Spider-Gwen
One of Peter's great loves , whose been adapted twice before on screen.
However , Marvel studios may want avoid adapting her a third time, and in the case of Spider Gwen,
Sony may not give them permission to adapt a live action version of that character, instead
saving her for their own live action adaptation, down the line

1743791951551.png
Black Cat / Felica Hardy
A front runner imo .
They 've attempted to bring her to the big screen as far back as Spiderman 2.
Felicia appeared in ASM2 , but never made it to the suit.
However, Sony may still be unwilling to allow Marvel to use the character due to
their on again off again development of Silver and Black .

1743792259320.png1743792285968.png
Carlie Cooper and Lilly Hollister
Two newer characters to the Spiderman myth , but are strong possibilities give The Brand New Day title.
Either one of them would certainly fit in as apart of Peter's new supporting cast .
On the other hand, Marvel and Sony may want a character more well known and prominent, from the various Spiderman films, and tv shows.

1743792671696.png
Jackpot / Multiverse Mary Jane
This is among the least likely options imo
Zendaya , is The MJ for the MCU Spiderman , and I'm skeptical Sony and Marvel would now introduce Mary Jane Watson as " the real MJ" for Holland's Peter.

1743792966011.png
Mayday Parker
While interesting as a fan theory, I also doubt she's playing the daughter of Tobey and Kirsten's
Peter and MJ .

1743793125859.png1743793317844.png
Firestar / Anjelica Jones or Jean Grey
My guess is that both of these X Men related characters will be off the table for a Sony film.
They're both redheads , but that doesn't mean Sadie is playing either on of them, or that Sadie's hair will be red, Spider-Man : Brand New Day.

1743793522988.png
A New Character created for the film
A brand new character ,created just for the film, is the least likely option imo.
Even though there's precedence for creating a love interest specifically for a film ( Chase Meridian ,Batman Forever) , nowadays, studios tend to use existing characters, they have the rights to.
So while they could , in theory ,create a whole new character / love interest, my guess is that Sony will utilize an existing character as opposed to creating someone brand new for Sadie Sink to play.

My darkhorse, left field pick based on what I said in the other topic is Teresa Parker.

Firestar, goddammit.

Past and present Spider-Man 4 casting call from gossip hound DanielRPK:

Female Villain - 30s-50s, any ethnicity. A powerful and imposing figure. Seeking an actress with strong and commanding screen presence and depth. Negotiation with someone (doesn't say who)

New Male Role - A resourceful young man in his early 20s.

New Male Role - 30s-50s, any ethnicity. A no-nonsense authority figure who sees the world in black and white. Loyal, determined, and willing to cross lines to maintain order.”
“New Female Lead - A sharp and free-spirited woman with a mysterious past. Strong-willed, intelligent, and not easily intimidated. SET Sadie Sink

Sink may be younger and shorter than I’d imagine for Felicia, but I think her face and voice would work well for the character and hair and wardrobe would work their magic as well. You’re not pigeonholed in casting by hair color in entertainment. Sink is known for playing characters from Netflix's Stranger Things and Fear Street and The Whale that can have an attitude.

As usual whether we see Felicia or ANY Spider-Man comics created characters is up to Sony and whether their misguided Spider-Man-less universe plans are getting in the way.

I’m more personally inclined towards hoping she’s another hero that Peter acts as a “big brother” to rather than a love interest, but what the hell, I’ll do the “breakdown” thing as well.

Other Civilian Love Interests (Civilian!Gwen Stacy, Carly Cooper, etc.): A boring idea to me, since I tend to think that the “soap opera” part of Spider-Man needs to be slimmed down for movies compared to cartoons or other serialized fiction… but I do have one idea I wouldn’t hate, though it would be intentionally provocative to certain creators - have Sink play Carlie going on a double date with Peter while Zandaya’s MJ is there with… Paul. But make the whole thing a joke about how lame the post-OMD love interests are, as MJ and Peter inevitably have their own sexual tension hijack the date.

(Yes, that would be a waste of Sink… but my idea for Paul is a stunt cameo by Timothee Chalamet going full spacey himbo for laughs, so at least I’m consistent.)

The Only Other Love Interest I’m Mildly Interested In (Black Cat): Felicia offers a different formula to any potential love triangle involving Peter and MJ, since she’s not only a costumed adventurer herself, but also enamored strictly with Spider-Man, not Peter, which could pose interesting conundrums and angst for a Peter still pining after MJ but trying to stay away from her.

Multiverse Spider-Characters Sony Should Have Already Thought About Developing (Mayday Parker, Spider-Gwen, etc.): Sony wasting time trying to make villains into anti-heroes and splitting their focus on four Spider-Women instead of just one is still frustrating, but they could do something like this, and especially if they went with Mayday then wheeled a dump truck of money to Raimi’s, McGuire, and Dunst, they could get a spin-off they might actually make money off of.

Mutants, Mutants, MCU Mutants! (Jean Grey, Firestar, etc.): This is not specifcially about Sink’s hair color - but rather that once people suggested the idea, I sort of fell in-love with it. Imagine if that rumor about this film being *concurrent* with Doomsday was true, with Spider-Man being more the “street view” of the chaos going on compared to what the Avengers are going through meeting the Fox mutants… and then it turns out that Peter is in charge of introducing the audience to MCU’s home-grown mutant population by trying to get a young, exceedingly powerful mutant girl to safety while his own bad publicity and villains are coming after them as well.

I don't think the actress is fitting to be a superheroine. So I would just be underwhelmed if she's playing Black Cat or Jean Grey.

I initially speculated that she might be playing Firestar, but with the Spider-Man: Most Wanted being brought up in that presentation, and the involvement of the director of Shang-Chi, a film which included a brother/sister dynamic. I’m leaning more and more towards her being his sister, Teresa Parker, from another universe where Peter had a sister or he was never born and she was instead.

He’s going to be in a very lonely, isolated and vulnerable place after the events of No Way Home, with his aunt dying and his friends and no one in the world knowing who he is, and giving him some sort of temporary familial connection to someone that would know who he is, or at least have an idea, would be a great way to create some great interpersonal drama and dynamics. It would be like him having the family that he never knew he wanted. Then, by the end, because of incursions or whatever, she has to go back to her universe, and you can make that a really emotional moment because he has to say goodbye to someone close to him again.

It’s a one-and-done character without a whole lot of backstory you need to go into and by the end they can go away without the worry that they’ll be wasted in a one off appearance in another character’s film. Also a great way of utilizing the variant and multiverse concepts without making them just feel like gimmicks.

I am willing to bet its a non-super powered character.

Spider-Man & Sadie Sink Rumors and News
...Or How We Got Here

November 2022:

In an interview with ExtraTV, Sink responded to claims that she has been cast in an upcoming Marvel project, saying, "I'm denying these rumors. It's not true." However, she stated that she'd be open to it if "the right superhero comes along," adding, "who wouldn't wanna play a superhero?"

Earlier in that year a flop rumor website that's been censored here called ***************** (GFR) claimed Sadie Sink had been cast in the MCU and speculated that the role was for "Songbird, also known as the villain Screaming Mimi" in Thunderbolts.

Fans noticed in promo material that "Geraldine Viswanathan's character [Mel] in ‘THUNDERBOLTS*’ is seemingly wearing a Songbird necklace."

Post-release, "‘THUNDERBOLTS*’ executive producer Brian Chapek seemingly confirms that Mel will potentially be Songbird in the #MCU. (via @IMDb)"

January 2023:

Marvel Studios reportedly has its eye on Stranger Things' megastar Sadie Sink for a big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 5 slate.
The Marvel Studios Spoilers Reddit moderator team shared a rumor from their trusted sources claiming that Marvel Studios plans to introduce Songbird to the MCU in 2024's Thunderbolts. Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is being looked at to play the role in the MCU, which would bring her into the franchise for the first time and make her the third regular from her Netflix series to join Marvel after David Harbour and Shawn Levy.

May 2024:

Dubious Marvel gossiper MyTimeToShine had claimed in October 2023 that Sony was preventing Marvel from using the Black Cat character. But in May 2024 they had then claimed that Black Cat would appear in Spider-Man 4. In August 2024, they claimed that the Black Cat role had been offered to actress Sydney Sweeney.

August 2024:

“I don’t want to play a superhero or a princess. I just want to make sure everything that I’m doing is different than the last. I’m still young, and I’m still learning.”

November 2024:

madelyn-cline-movies-shows.jpg

Outer Banks’ Madelyn Cline was also in Stranger Things alongside Sadie Sink.

December 2024:

January 2025:

Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy, is being considered for Spider-Man 4, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman.

In a new Patreon post, the scooper teased: “Spider-Man 4 will feature a new female love interest. Black Cat is a potential choice, but the official casting will be announced soon.”

March 2025:

With production set to start later this year on the next installment in the Spider-Man franchise, series star Tom Holland looks to have found a new co-star — one who is no “stranger” to popular IP. Sources tell Deadline that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is set to join the sequel from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. Holland is already set to return as Peter Parker. Marvel and Sony had no comment.
As for who Sink will be playing, the prevailing theory is she’ll be introduced as X-Men character Jean Grey, but don’t count out the idea that she shows up as another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character.[*] What is known is that the role will be a significant one given how the most recent film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, concluded with Parker making the decision to complete Doctor Strange’s spell that erases his identity from the world.
By staying on track with that plotline, one can expect Holland’s old castmates to have reduced roles while newcomers are added to the ensemble, with Sink being the first major new role.

* Both of those contradictory character rumors were created by dubious movie gossiper Jeff Sneider.

Also from that same interview w/ Josh Horowitz:

Josh Horowitz: what are you looking for in roles going forward?

Sadie Sink: Ooh…I think what’s interesting to me is kind of like building something from the ground up…whether that’s like a series or a movie. I think that’s interesting to me…starting at the very early stages of something. But I’m very story-character driven…and love working with new filmmakers but as long as it’s a story that I love and a character that I resonate with…or a character that’s different from what I’ve tried before. I think that’s the way to go…because I’m young I’ve got so much to learn and the more that I can stretch [my abilities] and find new ground to cover as a performer I think it’s the better [for me].

Writer Josh Wilding for the censored website ************** (CBM) then claimed:

In one final update, we've heard that Spider-Man 4 could include Gwen Stacy and Black Cat, with the latter potentially portrayed as one of Peter Parker's fellow college students similar to in Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
Regardless, Black Cat is the latest name to be thrown around online by social media scoopers. While this intel is coming from those who tend to have more of a "lucky guess" track record, we've done some digging and at least one source told us Sony has finally agreed to let Marvel Studios use the character after previously having her reserved for Silver & Black and, when that fell apart, a solo project.

Sadie was on Seth Meyers late night show last night.

I don’t expect her speaking out-of-turn until Marvel and/or Sony have something to say first.

Cancelled as a film, it was later developed as a TV series… but that was some time ago. Maybe this new comic book series is planned to coincide with something else?

Black Cat has had a lot of appearances in Marvel comics over the past year - in Avengers, Scarlet Witch, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man, in the alternate Ultimate series along with her father, Walter, and in the main Spider-Man comics.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) #66 (January 2025) | The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) #6 (June 2025)

A few months ago Marvel Comics’s Spider-Man editor Nick Lowe stated in The Amazing Spider-Man #66 that they’ve “got some BIG Felicia [Hardy] plans coming up, so strap in and get ready!!!”

SM:BND starts filming in August according the most recent gossip from DanielRPK.

Still got a while to see if this new series is corporate synergy (Thunderbolts* example, Ms. Marvel example) or not. Felicia received her first miniseries in 1994 which coincided with Spider-Man: The Animated Series. In 2019 Felicia was given her first ever ongoing solo series which coincided with the development of the Sony Black Cat movie/TV show. In 2020 Marvel did a direct tie-in Black Cat comic for the Sony PlayStation video game. They haven’t added her character to the Marvel Rivals video game…yet.

Wikipedia said:
Sony canceled its planned female team-up film Silver & Black (see below) in August 2018 to rework it as two separate solo films focusing on each of the title characters — Felicia and Silver Sable. Silver & Black's planned director Gina Prince-Bythewood was expected to remain involved as a producer. By January 2020, the project was believed to be in development as a television series, Prince-Bythewood confirmed in April 2020. She suggested that it could be a limited series, and had the potential to be released on Disney+.

Sadie has been nominated for an award (May 1):

Sadie attended the New York Met Gala for the first time (May 5):

Mayday is one of the more interest theories too me

but, most people assuming it'd be Tobey and Dunst's daughter (tho, that does fit the timeline best) I'd kinda be more interested in an alternative timeline of the Amazing-verse where (a variant of Garfield) got to meet his MJ ...
(the timeline would be a bite muddier, she'd have to be from some point in the future, or the alternate universe she comes from would have an accelerated time laps... something like that, idk)

I guess if we're speaking of ideal alternate universes, Garfield would have just got his Gwen, but, the idea of an universe out there where he at least got a second chance an was able to move on, works too
