Cap didn't have a love interest in Winter soldier and that turned out fine. There were a couple scenes where people were trying to hook him up with someone, but he was more focused on his work.

I want to see something similar in a new Spider-man movie. Have him ask a girl out but he gets rejected, because of his low status at his high school.

If Gwen is to die (again) in this new series, I'd rather it'd be something 'new' instead of a certain Goblin with a distinctive last name causing it, since we already got that in the last series (whether people liked it or not).

And I reckon if we are to get any symbiotes, it'd be Venom and that's it.

I think as Kevin said they don't want romance to be driving plotline. This first film will probably be like for example tssm. In first episode peter had a crush on sally to he found out she hates him and randy was dating her. So I see it be he likely has crush on some one be it sally, liz or gwen/mj counting what they do with mj and gwen. But it goes no where. And it's just a minor thing in film. And then in sequels we bring in the whole love triangle of mj gwen and peter and play with falling for and in a relationship with someone in sequels.

Romance won't drive the plotline, but it'll certainly be a factor even if it be a small insignificant factor like in TSSM.

I'd be happy with Gwen again. I just hope MJ is introduced in this film and we get to see how MJ and Gwen interact with each other. She's one of my favorite comic book characters, and I'd love to see her done right.

Well with Kevin saying he wants to use supporting players more and use also folks who haven't been used st all or very little. I still firmly think midtown crew will be peter, harry, flash, liz, sally, mj, gwen, and kong. Then in later films we see folks come and go. And say for example leave out randy, glory, debra, and felicia to collage time.

i'd prefer mj, but i'll even take gwen (though i have a real hatred for the character and only 2 takes on her have been interesting IMO)

It'd be fun to establish MJ as what seems to be a shallow party girl, with one or two hints it's not true, and then reveal the facade in the sequel and have her and Peter get closer.

Might also be fun to have Peter have a crush on some girl in this movie, like Liz or Betty or someone, and just have it not work out. Be a nice change of pace from "We're the leads in the movie so we must now mash faces"

I think it might be a clever idea to introduce MJ and Gwen as supporting characters then see how the chemistry turns out and which the audience responds too more and develop it over the sequels. Then we get several supporting female characters and a more natural romance storyline than just picking a definitive love interest from the start, that doesn't always work.

Yeah. I don't see why they can't both be in it. Peter getting into contact with these girls, nearly all of his love interests from the comics, so we can all root for him getting with the actress/character we like best. That would be so much fun and without romance being the main focus, it allows for something different.

I am sure that is what we will see in first film peter crushing on someone but it doesn't work out due to she nit liking him ie sally or liz. Or cause they are difference in age and maturity like betty if she is like 20 to 23 yrs old.

Ya with all kevin has said I doubt we will see peter in a committed relationship in first film. Flirting with a few firls. That doesn't go anywhere sally, liz and betty. And counting what we get with mj and gwen maybe lay some seeds at a later romance in sequels. I love to see mj and gwen be friends and rival for peter affection.

I agree and there's no need to strain the choices down to one or two, they could easily introduce many different girls from his mythos. Betty, Gwen, Liz, MJ, Debra, Felicia, etc. I like the idea of Peter just being enamored with whatever girl happens to be standing in front of him.

I'd much prefer this. He's young and has no time for love wirh balancing school and being Spidey. The formula worked really well in the Raimi movies, but now it's time for a change, and what you just said is something that would work really well. Peter crushing on the girls, but never obtaining until the right story comes along. Let's just give it some time before he actually starts dating. It's closer to life at school and fits in with his own life that we see him pine for awhile.
