Cinematography is very personal for me, as this is what I study. When I watch a movie, the most important thing I look at is the cinematography. Every aspect is important.
There are great cinematographers who's stiles are very different, and yet unique. Janusz Kaminski is the best of collaborating with the Art, Wally Pfister is the best at camera movement and trajectory, Emmanuel Lubezki is the best at hand held and Roger Deakins is the best at lighting.
Who is the best WORKING cinematographer in your opinion?
Janusz Kaminski (Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, A.I, Munich, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, War Horse, Lincoln)
Wally Pfister (Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, Moneyball, The Dark Knight Rises)
Roger Deakins (Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, No Country For Old Men, The Assignation of Jesse James, True Grit, Skyfall)
Emmanuel Lubezki (Sleepy Hollow, Lemony Snicket's, The New World, Children of Men, The Tree of Life, To the Wonder)
Robert Richardson (Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, JFK, The Aviator, The Good Shepherd, Inglorious Basterds, Hugo, Django Unchained)
Robert Elswit (Good Night, and Good Luck, Syriana, Michael Clayton, There Will Be Blood)
Seamus McGarvey (Atonement, The Soloist, We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Avengers, Anna Karenina)
Other (if you vote for Other, please name him and his best work)
