Chase is currently on a break from filming Saving Grace. He has been shooting Ugly Betty, in which he has a small part, and also Criminal Minds, where he plays a serial killer.

He is also in negotiations for a part in the Hugh Jackman movie Wolverine, which will be filmed in New Zealand.

"It's very confidential and top-secret. I think they're casting under alias names but for now, he's called Mr Yellow.

"He's about 30 years old, a charming southern guy on the surface but he's got some ulterior motives going on underneath. By the end of the film, he's probably not going to be such a nice guy."

He has an official website:

Realize I only know the X-Men from what I see in the movies since I never read the comics, but I saw "southern" and I thought of Gambit since isn't he from New Orleans?

Looking at the description again, he really does sound like Gambit. You might be right, narrows. This will be crazy if we actually get Gambit in a Wolverine film.

Guys, not only does it sound lilke Gambit, but if it is Gambit, that sounds like the PERFECT arc for him.

"He's about 30 years old, a charming southern guy on the surface but he's got some ulterior motives going on underneath. By the end of the film, he's probably not going to be such a nice guy."

I always hoped if they put Gambit in a film they wouldn't jump straight for the fan-favorite nature of his character, but the original intention of a mysterious man walking with some heavy sins, who may be allied with you... or may be up against you.

That's HOT.

I was a actually thinking Wraith with this one and I would like it to be Wraith more than Gambit because...well...I'm a Gambit + Rogue fanboy. :p

I was thinking James MacDonald Hudson and they might explore the Hudson involved in creation of Weapon X angle that was suggested in the comics. From the description given by the actor it would appear to be a really villainous role.

I really hope it's not anybody that's been suggested so far though - Hudson, Gambit or Wraith.

Bailey Chase to Play Gambit in Wolverine?

Is Bailey Chase in talks to play the role of Gambit in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine? He may very well be, according to the New Zealand Sunday Star-Times, who got the news from him in an article discussing his role on Saving Grace.

Chase revealed that he was in negotiations for a role in the film, but was cagey about the details. "It's very confidential and top-secret. I think they're casting under alias names but for now, he's called Mr Yellow."

Chase describes the character as "He's about 30 years old, a charming southern guy on the surface but he's got some ulterior motives going on underneath. By the end of the film, he's probably not going to be such a nice guy."

From that description, it sounds possible that "Mr. Yellow" could end up being Gambit, the Cajun thief turned member of the X-Men.

Chase is best known for his role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where he played the role of Graham, good friend to Buffy's boyfriend, Riley.

If It is Gambit, then it seems he'd have a rather large part in the film. :down

You know what? With Iceman and Angel as freakin' kids, I don't give a **** anymore. Their ages are all out of whack in the movies anyway. Bring on old man Gambit.

Age isn't as much of an issue as placement is.

i don't care anymore if there is a 30 year old gambit in a prequel to the x-men movie then whatever good.

Gambit is that old in the comics too you know....
But this is suppossed to be set around 15 years before the events of X-Men The Movie. Gambit is hardly 45 in the comics. I know you're a pretty big Gambit fan from your posts on ComiXfan, Canemacar, what's your view on Gambit being in this in what's probably a big role?

I don't want to see Gambit because of just that - his age in the timeline of the X-Men world. I'm sure at some point we're going to get X-Men films that take place in the present/near future and it'd be better to save Gambit for a future team film (which will eventually happen again) where he can be his proper age. But then again the movie-verse has varied a lot from the comics, so...

He'll be the new lead in the next X-trilogy and will be marketed as "That guy that Wolverine knew" and he'll form a romantic relationship with Storm. Just watch.:o

Not keen on Gambit in the Wolverine movie. Gambit fits so well into my X4 script so I think he belongs there!

Honestly? I love it. Gambit being a teeniebopper in the team movie is a guaranteed way of ruining the character with a bad love-triangle with Rogue and Iceman. At least with a 45 year old, he will be his own character.

THE BAILEY CHASE GAMBIT

Bailey Chase, one of the empty eyed hunks who appeared as members of the top secret military group The Initiative in a number of episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer* is running around dropping hints that he's going to be playing Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. We narrowly averted having to deal with the second worst X character (first is a tie between Omega Red, Maggot, Stacy X, Shatterstar, etc etc etc) in X-Men 3, but we may have to put up with his card tossing, gumbo bull**** in the Wolvie spin-off film.

Chase spilled the beans to some New Zealand paper while shilling his role in the Holly Hunter
TV show Saving Grace:"

Except for the fact that his character may not be such a nice guy, that could be a description of Gambit. I'm going to run all this by some of my sources and see what they have to say - I don't even know if Gambit is actually in the latest (and strikelocked) draft of the script.

Sure sounds like Gambit, especially since they want to keep it secret.

Personally, I don't care if we ever see Gambit on film so this is as good as anything IMO.

Its funny i used to call Gambit Mr Yellow, my early readings of him is when he had his x-men uniform gold and blue, although yellow, he looked yellow

So that would make Gambit 45 in the current movie timeline?

"Second worst x character"...LOL!
A good definition of Gambit! :D
I just hope they'll keep him away from "Wolverine"...

Well, on the 'plus' side, it does stop us getting a Rogue/Iceman/Gambit love triangle.
