It may seem off topic, but there's a point I'm making here.
In this version Mandarin was established as being in the shadows, and running Hydra. Eventually he and Iron Man fought, Iron Man won and Mandarin's remains made it apparent he was a robot created by Dr. Doom.
The reason for this was the Heroes Reborn universe was a pocket universe created by Franklin Richards to hide the Avengers and Fantastic Four after they sacrificed themselves to Onslaught. All the heroes lost all memories from their previous life and lived out updated versions of their origins. Iron Man swooped up Doom and drug him in.
Doom retained these memories, and used his knowledge of Iron Man's rogues gallery to torture him. Doom was the Mandarin all along.
