Who Should Headline Next Year's Super Bowl Halftime Show?

NO ONE!! The halftime show is the one aspect of the Super Bowl that I hate. Why do we need a concert in the middle of the biggest game of the season??!! Just introduce the newest Hall of Famers, let off some balloons, and get back to the action.
The halftime show is the only aspect of the Super Bowl worth watching. Football sucks.

The Who would be badass. I'd actually watch halftime with them.

AC/DC would also, but I doubt they'd let them do the Superbowl.

KISS would be fun if they make it over the top with explosions and fireworks.

Van Halen would probably be good too. But they'd have to grow out their long 80's hair. :p

Have you heard that emo rock cover of Lollipop? I was like, get that ******** outta here.
Never heard it. I don't think Lil' Wayne is conducive to rock music.

I like him as much as the next guy - well, I think he's far from the best rapper in the world - but "Prom Queen" is some serious ********. I guess rock music and Lil' Wayne don't mix, even when he tries to do it himself.

It's because a womens voice is considered a form of porn.
Seriously? Care to explain? I don't mean to sound judgmental, but I'm genuinely interested since I'm pretty unfamiliar with the Talmud and such.

U2 has already done it. They played the halftime show in Jan. 2002. I was at that game. We also got Paul McCartney singing before the game. I had no complaints about the talent they lined up for the game.

I'm not the biggest Coldplay fan, but they do make sense for next year. But I don't really watch the halftime, anyway. They try to appeal to as many people as possible, and in the end, they don't really appeal to anyone.

Most of those are good choices except rap, Pearl Jam, and Green Day...Chilli Peppers would be a stretch too due to thier on stage antics and with the (IMO justified)crackdown on performances I doubt they would be considered.

I don't think I've seen a single halftime show during the Superbowl because that's when I hit the toilet and get some more food and beer. And from what I've read about it the artists have to cut the songs in half. Not worth it.

They can invite every artist under the sun to sing before the game and/or after but let the game be about the game alone.

I think they should have rock bands that don't feature rockers who are so old they can be grandpas, like Tom Petty. Give us Foo Fighters, RHCP, or other new acts who can rock and rock hard. Other bands that should be under consideration include Smacking Pumpkins, Linkin Park, Beastie Boys, etc. I think U2 and Metallica are also good choices.

Is Smacking Pumpkins the tamer, watered-down version of Smashing Pumpkins? (AKA the band's current incarnation)

And yet you mentioned no new acts.

Now watch them bust out the Jonas Bros. because of everyone complaining about all the earlier acts. They'll grab that little girl demographic big time. The last time I really watched a full halftime show was when Prince performed...awesomeness.

Yeah, most of the bands he mentioned have been around for a really long time. I like the he mentioned U2 and Metallica as great acts, both bands are closing in on 30 years old, which brings them very close to "grandpa" age.

Personally I wished they'd just stop doing the big specatacule halftime show, it's totally worthless. Just do some analysis on the game.

Oh and one more thing, no more women singing the Monday/Sunday Night football theme, bring back Hank Williams!

Hank Williams still does the song for the Monday night game, as he has done for ages. The Sunday night game is on a different network, so he wouldn't do it.

Really? Maybe I was mistaking Sunday Night for Monday Night, still don't like the pop acts doing the Sunday Night theme though.
