Sequels Who should the villain in the next X-Men film be?

Who would you like to see the X-Men go up against in the "X-Men: Apocalypse" sequel, which will be set in the 1990's?

I think it's pretty clear who the villain is going to be.

I thought the post credits scene was setting up Wolverine III, but who knows? It was pretty ambiguous.

Different factions of the Shi'Ar Empire. Go crazy with it and make it like Star Trek but with X-Men and more wildness (so more like Star Wars then? ). Then have Phoenix go bad in the one after that.

They need one more movie before going into the Dark Phoenix, I feel like next movie could be that begin of Phoenix but not Dark Phoenix.

So my answer is the brotherhood first and then next movie Dark Phoenix, maybe the x-men and brotherhood could even team up against the Dark Phoenix.

I doudt they do it all in one film.if they do phoenix they would likely do one film going into space and have Phoenix save universe at end and do dark phoenix in film after that.

Apocalypse should have been 2 movies or at least 3 hours movie.

They had to cut a lot from this movie. BvS got the same complaint.

I'm voting Proteus because Mister Sinister should be a villain who's built up to over a series of films. He should be the endgame. Proteus was set up in XMA and the Proteus story was one of the best X-Men stories ever.

And where were Mojo, Stryfe, Bastion, Selene, Omega Red, Donald Pierce and Cameron Hodge on the poll? How did Onslaught make it in as an option over all of the characters I just mentioned?

Should be Proteus. His reality warping would indeed be something new. A small scale story that allows the young X-Men to shine as a team and get proper development. Then it should be Sinister and his Marauders. Followed by a Phoenix story. That should be our next trilogy. In that order. Take time and build up to the big stuff. But I wouldn't be surprised if they impatiently jump right into Phoenix and give us a movie with no emotional weight to it.

I think this story would more about Proteus, than we saw Jason in X2.

We saw:
mutants vs human
magneto/xavier
destroying world
kidnapped mutants and their DNA used to some plan

What villain could be fresh?

I'd mix Jean as the Phoenix with Proteus where Jean dies after Proteus submerges her in water off the coast of Scotland and she comes back as the Dark Phoenix in the third act where she's not only reached her true potential but she's also Proteus' newest host body and Jean is struggling to purge Kevin from her mind.

Don't like the idea of mixing Proteus into a Phoenix story. Keep the Hellfire club and/or Shi'ar involved instead. Phoenix saga is something that needs to be built up to over time/multiple movies. Not something to jump into right away. Proteus works as it's own movie because it lowers the bar for the expectations of this franchise. I mean that in good way. Expectations are already going to be low thanks Apocalypse and some kind of inevitable cast shake up (Lawrence &Fassbender gone?). Then they can raise the bar for whatever is next.

If the Supernova working title is anything to go by, I wonder if we'll get the Children of the Vault instead of Sinister.

I would have another villain team but with minions who aren't fan favorites like Angel, Psylocke, Magneto, & Storm.

Exodus × The Acolytes would make a great 90's villain threat.
