who was the most convincing clark kent with glasses after chris reeve . was it dean cain or tom welling or brandon routh'?

Well, Dean Cain was convincingly a real person, as that's how he played the role, as was Tom Welling. Brandon Routh just played Clark as Superman in disguise ala Reeve.

It's genuinely considered that Reeve is the best Superman and Cain is the best Clark.

I voted BR but that ain't sayin' much.

Well, to be honest, Dean Cain really didn't fool me. You could look straight through his disguise. And Tom Welling, well I don't really consider him much in the Superman 'league'. And we only see him with glasses in the last season, while everyone around him has seen him without the glasses. I think overall Brandon Routh had the best 'cover' Clark. I know in real life people would probably see through it anyway, but still, Christopher Reeve had the best 'cover'. He looked really different as Clark than he did as Superman. Brandon too, but maybe on a bit of a lesser level. He did look kind of dorky though. Cute.

Brandon Routh was the best Clark Kent, he portrayed Clark who was not a bumbling, goofy but rather someone who fades into background and does not grab your attention, but still has a quiet presence.

No love for Gerard Christopher?

After watching a few episodes of Lois and Clark I've begun to notice a slight difference between Cain's Clark and Superman. When he's in the business suit and glasses, he comes off as slightly more timid and nerdy while Superman comes off more like a musclebound hunk, Mr. Perfect. A little bit of it is demeanor but another part of it is simply what glasses do to a person. I think that's a lot of what the glasses were for, to play off the stereotype that a person in glasses is weak and mild mannered, and that no matter what the person wearing them does, they're still perceived that way.

I dunno if I'd say he's my favorite Clark after Reeve's, but I have a new appreciation for the performance.

I don't know, Cain to me always seemed like he felt awkward in the suit. I think that was a function of the way he played CK/Superman - i.e., Clark was the real person and Superman was just a public persona - but IMO there was never really any difference between the way Cain played Clark and the way he played Superman.

Agreed. The difference between his Supes and Clark is that Superman crossed his arms a lot.. but Clark didn't, lol. :woot: He just had No presence as Superman. Cape was too big for him.
