Who's left from Superman 1978 to make a guest appearance on Smallville?

landes looks like peter petrelli

An older Peter Petrelli, but anyway, Landes to this day is the best Jimmy Olson ever! All the Jimmy's are this little kid who's always looking up to everyone and just doing their thing. And a bit naive too. Landes' Jimmy was awesome. He was an equal to everyone and was the biggest pervert ever. I loved how he was always trying to have sex with this:

The following L&C cast members should be on the show:

1. Dean Cain. I wanna see a badass guest spot where not only does he help Clark, but is involved in some cool action scenes.

2. Teri Hatcher. She could play a mentor for Lois or something.

3. Michael Landes. The greatest Jimmy Olson OF ALL-TIME. He could play Olson's college professor or something. I don't know. Or maybe the top photographer at the Daily Planet.

4. John Shea. Maybe a rival of Lionel or something. I don't know.
...

Dean's not the greatest actor (check out some of those other movies he's been in!), but he's a sweet guy and I've always thought he was cute. He's not so great at playing a villian - his bad guys are awfully sympathetic in the end if not from the beginning. Would love to have him on SV - detective, vigilante, reporter who teams up with Chloe or interviews SV Lois, FOTW (Teri-detection powers - his eyes glow if she's within 100' <LOL>)...

Heck, put Teri on the show as a woman trolling for a young bit o' arm candy. She can do her Lois bit, but as a rival w/ Martha for Lionel and/or as someone interested in Clark and/or Lex. That would be FUN :woot: Then we could have L&C Lois in a catfight with SV Lois over one of the aforementioned... Teri is great!

I enjoyed Michael Landes before they replaced him. Even though he looks *nothing* like Dean Cain in stills or in real life aside from dark wavy hair, I did get him confused with Dean more than once within the show. Could be that they dressed them too similarly. He'd be good on SV as either a good guy or a villain.

John Shea - oooh, he could go toe-to-toe with Hackman, or have the two of them gang up against Lionel and Lex :-> Shea too might go after Martha (there not, apparently, being any other mom-types on SV these days)... She could handle him, though!

Landes really was a great Jimmy. I loved that he was played as a contemporary of Lois and Clark's and not as the naive kid. That's the example I pointed to whenever someone moaned about Ashmore's Jimmy being too "old."

Dean's not the greatest actor

I know, but I still think he's the best Clark Kent. Christopher Reeve is and forever will be the greatest Superman/Kal-El but Cain's Clark Kent was simply superior because you could have an entire show revolve around his performance. Reeve's Clark Kent made PERFECT sense, but if you were to make a show around that performance you would hate the character after three episodes.

Shea was great as the first post-crisis Lex Luthor. Hackman is still the best pre-crisis Lex. So, a team-up with the two would be fantastic.

Well, Ashmore's Jimmy is still a naive kid nonetheless. Landes' Jimmy was an equal and a really cool guy. If you had to pick ONE Jimmy Olson to hang out with you know it would be Landes' Jimmy. I mean, I remember an early episode of Lois and Clark where Jimmy was playing poker with Clark, Perry, and some other dudes. And, he was FANTASTIC in that scene. Can you picture any other Jimmy smoking a cigar and playing poker with the guys?

Won't comment on pre- vs. post-crisis continuity because I haven't followed the comics all that much (just sporadically, and most of that was pre-college, which was a while ago).

Of the Jimmys - yes, Landes' was the most appealing as an actual person (not as annoying as most of the others; more nuanced; more mature than most).

As for Cain's acting - I totally concur that he was an amazing Clark. I *loved* his Clark. Still do. Thought he was way too stiff as Supes, but part of that was within his Clark character (starting with the day he tried on outfits with his mom & was uncomfortable in them). Yes, Reeve's Clark would have been uber-annoying (though probably still appealing) were it to be a weekly occurrence. I loved Reeves' Clark first, though, and wouldn't mind a bit o' that. SO different from Cain's, but I loved it as a kid & still do. But I haven't liked Cain's acting in *anything* else, and I've seen several of his other things - an old college buddy occasionally tapes Cain stuff for me & sends me the tapes. There's not a lot to go on - mostly "nice guy", occasionally with a bit of darkness, and usually not nearly as bright-seeming as he was as Clark :csad: But mmm, Clark :woot:

Oh, and Cain was a heck of a lot cuter as Clark than as Supes, too. Partly his discomfort with the (bad, shiny) costume, but partly the way they did his hair and the cute glasses and outfits he got. Didn't like his hair slicked back. Reeve had awful glasses, though his hair didn't change much from Clark to Supes.

So far among the Clarks' business suits, I like the way Cain and Reeves and BR look the best. They all got great (flattering!) "reporter" outfits as Clark. Don't like BR IRL in suits in general - awkward at best. Don't like TW in suits in SV *or* IRL much other than the tux and the one he wore at the funeral; he looks too slick, especially because they usually do his hair all weird (it looks better messy!), and Clark shouldn't look slick IMO. TW really hasn't had a Planet suit/business outfit yet other than in the promos. Kal outfit doesn't count - the neck is wide open - but TW does wear that well! Reeve got dopey Planet suits, but that was partly the times. Reeves lucked out - I love 40s outfits and hats in general, so he had it easy in the wardrobe department :->

I loved Dean Cain's Clark at the time the series was in its prime, but now, rewatching the series on DVD, he actually annoys me with all the pauses he takes in his lines. He usually does it when he's trying to speak sincerely and it just comes off as really pesty. He was good at delivering exposition on the cases that he and Lois were working on, but put him in touchy/feely scenes and his delivery was very awkward.

You know, I haven't rewatched an entire ep in ages - just clips here & there on YouTube and in Supes documentaries. Gotta get the L&C DVDs & have a marathon... I think I could stand some more shirtless/t-shirted Clark scenes from that show! :whatever:

Yeah, too many pauses but it never really bothered me.

lol :D Hey, the guys had Teri and the ladies had Dean. What can I say?

Works fine for me :-> Teri in L&C was/is something for us ladies to aspire to anyway (before she went anorexic) - smart; attractive but achievably so - naturally dark hair that wasn't overstyled, not a supermodel, not overdone like Cat Grant on that show (who was great with Clark, but MUCH less close to home for most of us); mostly flattering clothes that were generally wearable; fun; quirky; talkative... Oh, and she got to mess around with Dean, whose Clark *liked* those qualities! :whatever:

^ No. He just hasn't done anything since the `80s

Jackie Cooper's not dead...as far as I know anyway. I looked on IMDB and didn't see a death date listed for him.

Plus, I saw a little snippet of him in an interview on the "Look Up In The Sky" documentary DVD. I hadn't seen him since "Superman IV", but the Chris Reeve generation Perry White is still alive and kicking.

If Micheal McKean ever comes back to Smallville as Perry, maybe Jackie can play a relative or an old mentor of his. I haven't seen the "Perry" episode in a while, I'll have to have a "Smallville" marathon one day. I have all 5 seasons so far and you can bet I'll get Season 6 as soon as it comes out!

"This'll be the greatest 1 on 1 interview since...God talked to Moses!"
---Perry White, Superman The Movie

The guy from Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie. Maybe those shows are before your time, kid.
i know those shows. but what does he had to do with superman?

he was jimmy? when?

What are you confused about? Catman started talking about Michael Landes who played Jimmy Olson during the first season of Lois & Clark. Another poster mis-read that and thought he wrote Michael Landon.

Oh no, I agree 100 per cent!!!

The point I was trying to make was when Aaron was cast, a lot of fanboys complained that Jimmy can't be the same age as Clark and Lois. (BTW, SV never said they're all the same age. Jimmy can still be one or two years younger. It isn't inconceivable).

But Aaron is not the first Jimmy to be played as a contemporary. To which I pointed to Landes' portrayal. So you and I are in total agreement.

^ Well, I don't know if Landes was supposed to be the same age as Lois and Clark but he was definitly in the same age group.

It's funny. the gal who plays Martha played Lana in Superman 3:csad:

Well, looks like we'll be getting Dean AND Helen at long last... Any others from the wish list?
