Why can't i delete my internet browsing history or cookies?

    I need to delete my internet history, my cookies and all the stuff that you type into the Google search engine bar. My girlfriend will be back in 4 hours and, amongst the porn sites, i cannot allow her to be able to see what i've bought her for her birthday as it's a suprise.

    I go to tools, internet options and do all the deleting, but it's still there!

    Help please :ikyn

    Make sure to clean up the tissues......and do your zip up!

    Better question is why are you going to porn sites if you have a girlfriend?

    Anyway dude try Ctrl+H that should clear browsing history....

    If your tools > options > history/cookies > delete option is not working panic lol.

    You could just go to your temp internet files and clear it that way.

    I'm a creature of habit, i like to look when my girlfriend is away, it makes feel better about myself to spend my time looking at porn.

    Ok, it has worked now i just had to sort it out, but what about the google search engine? She will know what i bought her if she sees what's in there.

    In Internet Explorer 6.0 you can do this...
    Tools > Options > Privacy > (close to bottom right) CLEAR NOW

    Sometimes that does not work, and it locks up.
    You can go in and delete the data manually by doing this.
    In Windows Explorer goto the folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<your username on computer>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

    This is a temp folder not needed for IE particularly...but useful
    C:\Documents and Settings\<your username on computer>\Local Settings\Temp
