Like Heroes when Peter tried pulling the the door of the safe opean, he got pushed hard and was bleeding. Or in the Fantastic Four movie when Sue was trying to control Johnny's fire at the end. Every Heroes movie or show I've seen, every time there power gets pushed to the limits they bleed. Has it ever been explained?

When you say say "Peter", I guess you're not talking about Spider-man?
Like, I don't know if you're talking about the show Heroes, or heroes in general, because I can't help you out with the show since I've never seen it.

I can guarantee you though Spider-man has never bled do to his power. Nor Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Hulk or Iron Man.

Yah sorry about that. I meant Heroes as in the TV show, I meant Peters character from the Heroes show. Hmm I forgot about Spider-Man, never saw that other one.

I think the reason is because they don't want to make them too powerful or it's just for dramatic effect. Like in SM2 when Spider-man basically passes out after stopping the the train . You have to make it seem like the hero could fail at one point or another.

Without being a jack ass, there is a whole Heroes board thing this probably belongs in (if you are talking about the show Heroes).

And yeah, exactly what Bullets said.

There's this blog I follow called Polite Dissent, written by a doctor who loves science fiction and comic books. Every now and then, he puts up these short posts called "Psychic Nosebleed Zen," where he displays images of people using their powers (not always psychic, but usually psychic) to the limits and giving themselves nosebleeds.

Here's his article about why it doesn't make sense from a medical standpoint unless all psychics pick their noses: LINKAGE

Here's all of his nosebleed image posts: LINKAGE, AS WELL

It really does happen so often, it's ridiculous.

I guess because we associate blood with pain, it's a simple way to show that. Especially in comic books.

And yet on Wolverine and the X-Men, the gang can take on a bunch of sentinels and walk away without so much as a broken pinky.
