Why does Marvel have better games than DC?

bc Marvel secures better developers

Because Marvel has better characters :D

For the same reason they have better comics.

See what I did there?

Now now, the OP only went so far as to say they have better games. :p

I don't know...I mean Marvel has but few HIGHLY good near perfect games. Others are bad or just okay.

DC, I don't know why their games are bad. Batman could get a really cool free roam game if they wanted.

Do they want him to be in a cool game, but they can't even get stealth action right. Marvel is just better, plain and simple. Their have only been like four good DC movies: Superman, Superman 2, Batman Begins, Batman with the Joker. Marvel has Spidey 1 and 2, X-men 1 and 2, Punisher, FF 2, and Daredevil(in my opinion it was good, anyways.) Please don't make me type out the difference in games as well, that would take way too long. Spider-Man by himself has like five or six good games. What about DC, anyone?

The only good game that DC has since the 3D era (starting with PS1/N64) IMO is JLH. Any other good game DC might have was a beat em up during the 16 bit era

perhaps the powers of marvel characters are far harder to manipulate in a gaming world and the whole batman idea is oversaturated.

Marvel has good games

Yes: Spider-Man for PS1, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, both X-Men Legends games, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Marvel vs. Capcom series, etc.

All of those games got good reviews from game sites and fans, respectively. Compare that to DC, how many good games have they come out with in the last decade?

A lot of the marvel universe is more coherant and joined together better, hence why games like XML and MUA work quite well.

JLH was a decent game, but yeah, they haven't actually made that many games, probably why they don't have many good ones.

First, everything stated, and everything anyone states, is pure opinion, in which case, threads like this are rediculous. "cos marvel is so much better than dc in everyway". If that was an answer given to me if I had requested information as to why one company was 'better' than the other I defenately wouldn't be able to take them seriously. That's pure fanboyism right there, and it's blatant disregard for information.

First, the characters. Someone stated that they think Marvel has better characters. That is all a matter of opinion. I personally like some DC characters and Marvel Characters. Both have good characters, and both have utter crapfest characters. I read a very very good article that was talking about the comparison of the two companies and their characters, and in it it said that while marvel is more phantastical and sci-fi adventure, DC is better related to mythology and such. Not in context, but it's aproach and it's foundation. Some of you probably don't understand but my job isn't to come here and make you.
Second, the games, yeah, I'd have to agree that overall Marvel has been able to secure developers who have made somewhat decent games. MUA is my only FAVORITE Marvel game, all the rest have been subpar disapointments. As for DC, the only game I enjoyed was Justice League Heroes. All the rest have been subpar as well.
So please, when you think about spewing fanboyism and claiming one property is better than another, stop and think before you speak. Coming out with "because such and such is just better" is just lame. Especially when it's all just a matter of opinion.

Well, fan boy arguements like "Marvel is just better than DC" aren't helpful, but that doesn't make this thread pointless. One thing that isn't a matter of opinion, is that marvel games are better reviewed, overall, than DC games. saying M:UA is the only good marvel game is incorrect: Spider-Man for PS1, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, X-Men Legends and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 were all well reviewed

There is a reason is why every solo Superman game has sucked, they haven't found a way to incorporate Supes' powers into a game. He is either too weak (like in Death and Return of Superman where thugs with chain saws could kill him and most his powers were useless) or he is too tough (like in Superman Returns where the city was his life bar and the whole game felt one big long boring, escort mission.) The only game to get it right with Superman was JLH, were Superman was powerful, but the enemies could still pose a threat to him. That's one disadvantage DC has in video games, most of their characters are so powerful that it very hard to the strike the balance of correctly show casing their powers correctly, while still providing a challenging and interesting experience. For most DCU heroes (outside of the odd good Batman game) only JLH has done that.

The problem is Marvel has learned something about past mistakes in the gaming world, while DC has not. There have been awful Marvel games (X-Men for NES, Incredible Hulk: The Pantheon) but over the past 20 years at least Marvel decided to team up with good developers to make good games, now and again. This why we see stuff like X-Men Legends, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The fact that DC hasn't followed suit is criminal. If DC had any sense they would go to Capcom and beg them to a DC vs. Capcom game.

they really need to fix up and mke a free roam batman...seriously

That would be the best place to start. Superman Returns was a good idea and I was initially excited about it.....though it seems to have flopped (I never got to play it yet.)

Batman as a Free Roam game wouldn't be revolutionary..but it would take GTA style to another level by giving you access to driving the Batmobile and it's various weapons as well as the cycle, jet, boat...whatever else. Who knows what they are developing for the Dark Knight...but hopefully this is the route they are going.

Aside from 2 Justice League games, what DC franchises are even made into games. Its mainly been Batman and Superman. It doesnt seem as if theres any interest from developers to use DC characters. On the other hand with Marvel you have X-men, Spider-man, Fantastic Four, Punisher, Hulk, Avengers, etc... The list of Marvel games is larger and more varied. I think Marvel just might be more appealing which is why more games are made featuring their characters

DC is trying to turn it around,.JLH and Superman Returns were a good start.WB is making an attempt to have more control over thier properties when it comes to gaming.Which means to me:they know they're behind..
As for the whole vs Marvel aspect:lets look at the last three Marvel titles=Spider-man 3,Ghost Rider ,Rise of the Silver Surfer,..=1 out of 3 here were good.

I want to add , DC/Vertigo has ample opportunity to make a slew of games they dont take advantage of beyond titles like Batman.-
As in ,Judge Dredd,V for Vendetta,Hellblazer etc

And dont forget Hellboy is on its way for the 360

Given a good developer this is a game that could be done extremely well. It is a shame they haven't hit the nail on the head so far. Not a massive fan of Batman as a character myself, but of all the superheroes he lends himself to a game moreso than most others.
