I know there's a wrestling thread but I didn't want to get lost in the randomness that occurs there.

Why ECW will fail: I LOL'd at these, simply because the situation has gotten so tragic as to laugh or cry.

The word on 6/27 is that Paul Heyman’s power has lessened again. Dreamer has had no power for a while, and is now said to have less than no power. Heyman’s current role is the head writer of ECW, but he just presents scripts to Vince, Stephanie and the creative time, who will then make whatever changes they want, and ‘liberally’ so. One person close to everything, says that Heyman’s position was hurt by the reaction at the Philadelphia house show, as he was blamed for creating a fan base that refused to accept any changes to the product. Heyman was also knocked for not being able to turn the crowd around with his promo, and it was used as proof that Heyman was not as important to the project as he said he was.

The morale of wrestlers in ECW has sunk in recent weeks, primarily from being told that the reason the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD and first PPV did so well is because Raw fans brought it after learning about ECW over the past five years through WWE’s marketing of it and their encouragement of ECW chants at television tapings.

WWE really doesn't understand ECW.

It also makes me sad, as little I saw of the old ECW, to see fans at the shows chanting ''ECW!! ECW!!!", helping along the travesty that is wwecw.

It's the only wrestling I watch on tv.

i hope it can get its forer glory back in SPITE of vince the wince

This isn't ECW. Since when did ECW ever use extreme rules as a gimmick? Since when did ECW ever disqualify Sabu for putting someone through a table?

Since when did ECW's top three wrestlers include two from the WWE?

This "new" ECW only has what? Nine wrestlers, of all only five or so see TV time and the ones who do and are actually being pushed are from the WWE? I mean come on, Test and Big Show going over ECW wrestlers? The main event on the last ECW show was two WWE wrestlers! Bringing in Shannon Moore who was never in ECW?

ECW has become Heat.

The only reason I keep watching is because it's like a damn train wreck. You want to look away, but you can't.

Vince should realize that the reason his ECW is dying is because everyone knew before it even started that this was the WWE with a different letter combination. If they wanted ECW to thrive, they give Heyman full control and treat it like a completely seperate promotion, which means NO ****ING APPEARANCE ON RAW, not just another brand that is only around to provide fake competition.

the problem i see with this "new" ECW is that its nothing like the "old" ECW where they wouldn't care how much one person was bleeding for how bad a wrestler could be hurt for doing some crazy stunt. i remember so many tables, chairs, fire, etc. that was used so often and now its like Paul Heyman has no power to make the matches he used to make. and i also dont like WWE wrestlers going in because there was a certain type of person that was accepted as an ECW wrestler and test and big show and kurt angle to me are not those type of guys. give me sandman, tommy dreamer, the dudleys, sabu, etc... with the old rules which where that there are no rules....oh and i forgot the impact players as well

AMEN A-FN MEN

Kinda reminds me for the stunt that Coke pulled back in the 80's by introducing "new Coke". Look what a mistake that turned into. But I am sure that in this case we will never see the ECW as it was ever again. It just seems to me whatever Vince gets his hands on turns to total crap. WCW anyone?

If everyone dislikes wwe, why is it so popular? Or is it just a few internet geeks that dislike it & rant about how bad it is..... I am not saying that the wwe is great, its not. ECW was something speical & Vince just doe snot get it...

TNA is pretty good raslin'

wrestling is boring because they have a bunch of dramaqueens talk the whole show

I stopped watching ECW. It just wasn't holding my interest.

ECW was garbage before last night.

i'd say it only has about 3-4 more shows bwfore sci-fi wises up and pulls the plug

the reason it will fail is because people forget that most of those ecw guys did not know how to work. Yes, u had benoit, malenko, and eddie, but sandman, rvd, sabu, balls, these guys aren't "good workers". Why do you think angle and show were brought to ecw?

It's getting consistently good ratings and Sci-Fi is thinking of giving it a permanent timeslot

Frankly, I think what WWE is doing with ECW right now is good marketing. They're bringing in WWE wrestlers on a weekly basis to attract the casual WWE fan to watch the show. Then when they watch it, they could see some of what ECW has to offer and hopefully get hooked on it. And it seems like it's working because it's getting a 2.4 average rating each week. A rating that TNA would really jump for joy if they ever got, might I add...:o

TNA might be classified as sort of a success. But how long did it take them to get where they're at today? Four years? And for a good chunk of the first year of TNA, they sucked bad. Like I've said before, it's kinda pointless to proclaim doom and gloom on this new ECW, especially since it's in the midst of developing their own niche....
