Sony's lies finally caught up with them, and now apparently both Microsoft and Nintendo are looking for retribution on possible losses for the media lies Sony has put out. Sony had said that the PS3 (20GB) is so much cheaper than the Xbox 360, and that Wii's Online service will only be free for the first 6 months... obviously things we know aren't true... but not everyone else would know.

Sad times.
RIP Zenien. I'll always love you.

Microsofts rational is a pure joke. They'd be stupid to take it to court because they would lose badly. Nintendo ahs a point that can be explained away as a mistake. I really don't see either of the alledged slights being worthy of a court case or worth anyof the companies time.

In all honesty, they're right to try and bring up the lawsuit. I don't think it'll go far, but bad publicity can only best be counteracted with more bad publicity. If both companies file lawsuits, in essence, the damage is done. It doesn't have to go further.

This is Microsoft's legal team we're talking about here.

Microsoft would sue a dog if it crapped "I hate Microsoft" if it could.

Neither have a case. If it doesn't get thrown out at an early stage, it will go on to lose. I'm sure Microsoft have a great legal team, but they simply don't have a strong enough case.

Yeah, it's not like you can sue for some REALLY DUMB things in the US, like suing fast food restaurants because their coffee burned someone, even though it's supposed to be hot.

Oh wait...

Coorporations won't have that same edge though... and it won't go that far. Like I said, making the claim is all they want to do to seek revenge.

How though is Sony's comparison (in reguards to the HD-DVD aprt) untruthful? If you want to play 'next gen' movies your 360 you have to buy the addon. There's nothing untruthful about including it in that fashion, it's true.

The Nintendo one is such a minor thing that I don't see why Nintendo would care.

I mean even when there were some people saying "The Playstation 3 is twice as powerful as the 360 because of Flops performance" IMO it'll never be as blatant though as MIcrosoft saying XeCPU has 3x the integer performance of Cell though when in fact Cell blows it out of the water in Integer potential/performance.

If Microsoft wants to take Sony to court over SOny saying you need the HD-DVD addon to play Next Gen movie content on the 360 (and thus match the ability of the PS3) and that every PS3 model includes a next gen movie playing ability that you don't have to buy as an add-on. Well, good luck.

Sony can fire right back with outright lies Microsoft has tried to spread about the Cell CPU, which has far bigger implications then the subjectivity of saying "This console is more powerful because it has twice the FLOPS performance". Microsoft is outrighjt lying about performance numbers of the CELL CPU, a chip that has been developed by IBM, TOshiba, and Sony, and is being used in a wide range of devices outside of the PS3.

You know everyone uses that example which is funny. I did too until I had to research it for school. The coffee was so hot it burned right through the cup she was given. She didn't just throw it on herself. After the fact McDonald's (or the media, I really don't know) spinned it to make it look like she was an idiot.

"Hi, my name is Sony. I SUCK!"

Sony+Sony=SUCK!

SOOOOOOOO nysuck

You can't spell Sony, without the ...uh.......SUCK!

The only thing I think they may have a case for is the stuff that says, "required to play." It doesn't specify that this is a comparison of the core systems sheet plus if one couldn't afford the XBOX 360 premium then they wouldn't be able to afford the PS3 core so if the PS3 core is included then they should be able to just get the 360 premium. It's a flawed sheet.

Nintendo has a much more realistic reason to sue. Sony outright lied about their online, be it mistake or intention, it was a "fact" sheet.

Still not sure how well it could hold up in court.
