Wii's Short life cycle........

It still needs to compete with shelf space. By the time the next systems come out, if Nintendo doesn't have something, the Wii isn't going to hold then. It can barely hold now.

It's not even out so how can you even say it can barely hold?

Maybe you didn't see the "b", they're 60 billion in debt. If Blu-Ray falls flat, Sony as we know it will cease to exist.

You apparently completely ignored what LongDong said. If Sony does go under they will most certainly will file for bankruptcy and reorganize.

Sony is still considered to be a good brand for TVs, DVD players, etc.

The Playstation brand is at the moment the leading video game brand. And it also has game developers that it could still use even if Sony decides not to go with the Playstation 4.

Columbia Pictures and MGM own a rather large film library and rather good film franchises such as Spider-Man, James Bond, the Adam Sandler movies, Pink Panther, etc.

Sony BMG Music is one of the leading record labels

Sorry, I was just using the Gamecube as an estimation of the Wiis performance. I forgot for a moment that the GC is basically dead but the Wii has a large launch lineup.

Forgive me, I had zombie moment.

The DS could keep Nintendo afloat if that's all they had out. That's how good it's doing.

you're right, hd isn't that important. but you're still wrong, the only thing the wii lacks is the ability to compete with the other 2 next gen syestems graphically.

so, in response to the thread, yes. i think it will be outdated in about 3 years, maybe less. i just don't see how nintendo can keep people interested in waving their arms around for that long, there're only so many different things you can do with it. it's just not that interesting a feature, and without the graphics to back it up, it'll be all that more overlooked soon enough.

imagine how much better the eyetoy would have done if it's games hadn't looked like n64 titles... then apply that formula to the wii.

Amazing. Amazing how short sighted people can be. The Wiimote's motion feature is a total replacement of an anologue stick. As well as that, my short sighted friend, there are MORE possibilities with a Wii controller than a regular controller.

Look at it this way. The Wii controller does everything a normal controller does. But, with most Wii games, functions that would usually be used for one of the two analogue sticks on recent controllers will instead be used with the motion function of the Wii. In addition, the nunchuck device also has a motion function.

When Link will go fishing, you'll be using the nunchuck like that thing you use to reel in fish, while using the "wand" like a fishing line, throwing it out to water and pulling it in.

When Link will be using the bow and arrow, you point the wand, and pull back with the nunchuck... just like an actual bow and arrow.

The possibilities with the Wii controller are phenomenal. It's a gaming experience people aren't used to. And like what has been pointed out, each game will take advantage of the Wiimote in different ways.

How the hell can you be so short sighted? Explain it to me.

How can you compltely fail to see this?

I think the Wii is going to rock. I'll be getting on on launch day if at all possible (I want to play Twilight Princess with the Wiimote so bad).

I think that the PS3 will be a great system but is going to have problems over the long run with building an audience outside of hardcore gamers (the DS is the best example of why that is importnat, look at all the 'non-gamers" who are into the DS), because of that prohibitive pricetag. Ican't see that many parents dropping $600 on a gaming system for little Timmy this Christmas if the Wii is substantially less. And the Wii selling more units will mean that the developers will want to make more games for it, so they sell more, I'd imagine.

ANd if I was a developer I'd want to work on a game for the Wii, just to design for the controller.

Well I see where you're coming from too but the reason I started the thread was becasue I do see all the possibilities with the controller and if people have open minds I think it will do good. But The thing is I believe as more people by HD tv's they will want a HD console also. Nobody is goingto kick out that much money on a HD tv and not want to take adavantage of all the possibilities. So what I was trying to get across is that I don't think the wiimote will get boring or become a fad, I just think that in 3years nintendo is going to keep the motion sensing and add Hd to compliment it. That way they'll satisfy everyone, true gamers and graphic ****e's.

Most people will go for the "if it's more expensive" it must be better mindset this holiday season, so Wii will have to showcase why they're better than the other two systems. And little Timmy will whine about getting a PS3 if all his friends have one, that's always how it works.
