This is something I've always wondered about. Do you think that we as a civilization, humans will reach a point in say several hundred years or so from now where one or more of the theories behind how a real world warp drive could be achieved or transverseable wormholes is proven?

I think it will happen eventually, but I also think humans will destroy each other long before that becomes a reality.

I think so, who knows how long it would take though. Any takers?

Fushion by 2050... Cold Fushion by 2150 ish... AbsolutaInsanimaniaridiculouslyludicrous fushion by.... 374568734. But I'm optimistic so I'll go 3500 AD.

It's already possible with today's technology to go to other solar systems. Discover magazine did an interview with several scientists at NASA. NASA does have a team of people right now who's job it is to just sit around and think of ideas for how to go to other solar systems even though none of those ideas are currently in development.

One of the ideas could be done with today's technology. You build a huge saucer shaped disk and point a laser to push it and it will eventually start to go really fast. It could in theory if left to run long enough eventually reach the speed of light. They said that with today's technology you could have it built in 10 years and then launch it and it would then take another 12 years to get to alpha centurai. They estimate it would cost roughly the same number of dollars as the moon missions costed. It would however be a one way trip and there would be no way for the astronauts to send a message back to us in a timely manner. We would basically wonder for decades as to whether or not they ever made it there alive or what happened after they got there.

I agree. As a race..we are too busy killing each other over ******ed ****. Money, religion, drugs, different view points, etc.

I voted couldn't care less. It could go either way really. Humans might be able to achieve it, but maybe not.

Where one world ends, another begins.
