In comic books, nobody is ever permanently dead. So do you guys think that Peter will return or rise from the dead?

I am still upset that they killed him off. This version of Peter didn't even get to leave high school, and I feel like there were so many stories to tell with him. Killing off Peter Parker just to get Miles Morales just felt lame to me. (Not saying I dislike Miles, but can't they co-exist?)

I don't think he will return. There is no need for ultimate Peter when you still have classic Peter. I was disappointed by his death, but mostly because the climax was lazy and gutless. I wanted green goblin to kill him with his fists. It would have been so brutal!

I am just annoyed they killed him off to introduce someone else. Just because we have Peter in the 616 universe doesn't mean we don't "need" him in the ultimate universe. There are so many more stories to tell with him :(

yeah, I agree, but I think Peter 616 was enough for Marvel and they wanted some fresh new blood.

I think after One More Day, the whole 616 universe kind of got a little messed up though. I started to turn to Ultimate Spider-Man for a while, and now I can't even do that. I almost think that they should make an Amazing Spider-Man volume 3 and reboot the whole thing again (not tell his origin again, but maybe go back and have Mephisto give him back Mary Jane and go back to the post-civil war period.

I have nothing against Miles, but he just isn't Peter Parker. I am not just a Spider-Man fan, but I have a love for the character Peter.

I know what you mean. Spider-man is Peter and Peter is Spider-man. Only Miguel O'Hara is a legit Spider-man in my heart. He's so awesome...

I liked Miguel O'Hara because they didn't have to kill Peter Parker off to have him. If Marvel wanted a minority to take the place of Spider-Man, why didn't they introduce Spider-Man 2099 to the Ultimate universe? He is half hispanic after all, and I think he is a cool Spidey!

I actually prefer Miguel over Peter. His arc in 2099 was outstanding. But they destroyed him in that lame arc 2099 timestorm....

Haven't read enough about Miguel to judge him lol. Too bad they destroy him :(

you should definitely read all spidey 2099 issues. It's brilliant.

Timestorm changed his origins. Instead of being the son of a blue collar, he's the son of a scientist... which is stupid. Timestorm was like a ultimate spiderman 2099, and it didn't work at all. I think Only Peter David knows how to write Miguel. Even in exile, he was just a clone of peter.

Is there a trade paperback that collects all of his issues in the right order?

And didn't Peter David write the official novelizations to the Spider-Man movies?

No, this is just some alternate universe Peter, so him dying doesn't matter. Miles should have been the Ultimate Spider-Man from the get-go really. Like the Silver Age DC characters that took the name and powers of their GA predecessors, but nothing else.

It may be the alternate universe Peter, but I guess you can say the same for all the other characters. Might as well kill them off and replace them, too.

I don't really care for Miles. Peter IS Spider-Man, and killing him off ruined the Ultimate Storyline for me. I don't even bother to read it anymore.

I think the Ultimate versions don't matter at all. Ultimatum proved that. DD was killed off, replaced, and then killed off. Dr.Strange was exploded. Hank Pym decapitated the Blob. So what if they kill off some redundant Peter Parker?

Its not like they created Miles from the ground up, with him being the only Spider-Man (how I think it should have been). His whole reason for being a hero IS Peter Parker.

Ultimate versions do matter to me and many other people. It was just Marvel's attempt to be politically correct, and they killed off Peter just to do that. :/

I know there is at least one indeed. Don't know about the novelizations.

I'm assuming this is the book:

No sense this makes

I feel that Bendis and Marvel were just being lazy. There were so many stories they could have told about Peter and his clone Jessica...who may or may not have ended up in a relationship with Johnny Storm...

I just think that story could have been explored a little more, but they left it hanging when they killed Peter and broke up the Amazing Friends band...

Marvel is happy with 616 Spidey again because he's single again, the marriage never happened and they can pretend he's still 23 or 24, tops for the rest of his existence (even though he seemed close to 30 until that abysmal story). Personally, I despise OMD so much I have hardly looked at it since. But to Marvel they have "succeeded" at deaging Peter and don't feel they need the young high school Peter in Ultimate anymore, because Quesada was convinced ten years ago that is the only true form of the character.

Personally, I hope Peter stays dead. The 616 run ends either by pretending it merged into Spider-Girl (the DeFalco series that ran for like 15 years or something that i have some of the TPB of), Reign if you're a misanthrope, or just anything but what it is now. I like USM just fine, but I never was endeared to him in the same way and after seeing Marvel massacre what made the character special in their main universe, seeing him actually have an ending and finality with real character integrity in USM really makes me give props to Bendis's vision of the character's story (granted I only read in TPB the first 50 issues or so of USM before the "Death of" ending).

Miles Morales is interesting from what little I've gleaned and I like they're giving the world a new Spidey that can appeal to a more diverse audience in the 21st century. I also like how it seems everyone who dies in the Ultimate universe (Spidey, Wolverine, Daredevil, Cyclops, Xavier, Doom, Magneto, etc.) stays dead. The only exception I know of, ironically, is Gwen Stacy. Who despite Joey Q's horrible ideas has thus far remained thankfully deceased in the regular series.

All this is a long-winded way of saying I like what they did with USM. Granted, I'm not a diehard of the series or have read all of it. So, I think it should stay the way that it is in the current form.

I hope not, the book is amazing with Miles in it.

Peter had his time on the book and to be honest beside his final arch, was getting a bit bored with the books.

Miles run is so refreshing and fun to read.

Well, I honestly wanted him to stay much longer too, but i'm also really mad that they just killed him off too. I mean I had the game for the xbox which is really awesome, and really liked this version. And he I think he's gone forever though. :(
