Woman Gives $500,000 to Nigerian Scammer She Met on Christian Mingle

This website is so ridiculous...I'm allowed to say that, right?:funny:

Who is this woman? I need her email asap.

They need to build a firewall big enough to block off the entire country of Nigeria.

It has nothing to do with the digital age or whatever.

Giving someone you just met $200,000 or $500,000? That's just dumb to me.

Maybe she is dumb. I don't know. I still feel kinda bad for her, anyway. *shrug*

I guess it's because my ex-girlfriend got her PIN number for her credit-card phised a few years back. Some fraudsters called her pretending to be with her bank and..... I probably don't need to tell you the rest. So she ended up losing about two thousand dollars before she figured out what had happened and getting the card cancelled. I thought she was incredibly gullible and naive, but I couldn't be mad at her, because she was crying for days about it and felt bad enough without me adding to it. So even though I think people who get scammed are way too naive and trusting, I still feel bad for them most of the time.

The biggest question is how does someone so simple save up half a million dollars?

Inheritance from dead rich husband? Look at the late Anna Nicole.

lol, christianmingle.com. I guess she found God's match for her.

I remember reading about some lady being killed by a dude she met through that site.

Maybe she is since I don't see how anyone could give away that much money to a stranger without question unless they're really rich and that amount wouldn't really hurt them.

I can understand being tricked by someone on the phone pretending to be a bank if they took the steps of seeming official enough and all that.

Banks will never, ever ask for your pin number, or any of that information since they already have it. It's a much stricter version of never giving out your password to someone claiming to be from a site you visit.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hate to see people getting taken advantage of. Karma should get that bastard!

I'm not sorry to hear that. She's an idiot. I am glad however that they got the turd.

True, but I think it'd be easier to fool someone with that if they didn't know banks never do that. Especially if they took any other steps to come off as "official".

I would think after all this time everyone would know that, or read the notices saying as much when they are given a bank card or open an account.

Then again something like 99% of us don't read those TOS and EULA's when we buy stuff either. :p

Me too, but why is the lady an idiot? She got swindled by what sounds like an accomplished con artist that played on her vulnerabilities and loneliness. Lots of people get swindled, but I don't think that makes them a complete idiot.
