Wonder Woman animated movie for Q4 2008/Q1 2009

well dont y'all start shooting me for this ok?

i dont really like Susan Eisenberg's voice for WW. there's something about it that i find annoying, maybe the nasal-ly quality to it or whatever. i would much preffer that they find another voice actress. i want to hear what Lawless will sound like, but if she's gonna sound just the way she was for Xena then forget it. it would be like Susan's but with a more famous name.

for the Baccarin supporters, i think this is THE project that Morena can do to play WW. i like her work as Black Canary, maybe give her voice a bit more strength for WW since there are times where Canary sounds a little damsel-ly.

or if i could have an ideal pick, Gina Torres (she did Vixen's voice). melodious, deep but still womanly, and theres a strength and tenacity to it that can make a regular line sound great AND sound like its coming from an Amazon.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. I have confidence it will be well done, and if the rumors of a Kingdom Come animated film are true, all I can say is, "Seriously, Wow!".

Would you also say you thought Susan Eisenberg's voice was too "light"?

That's alright, I know guys who never liked Tim Daly's Superman voice, said he was never deep enough or heroic sounding enough (not naming names here). Granted, George Newbern didn't sound all that deep or heroic either, I just learned to live with it.

I heard rumors that Maria Canals, who voiced Hawkgirl, originally read for Wonder Woman, but I doubt those rumors are true.

So, any other suggestions?

no, it was deep enough, its just that there was a quality to it that i found annoying, there was something about it like she was speaking through her nose or that her throat was irritated or something. i dunno, but just hearing a voice like that i wouldnt cast her as WW, i 'd cast her as a elder lady, or some boss or something, but not WW.

yeah sometimes i feel the same way about Superman's voice, too kindly at times, even when he supposed to be cutting loose, like it lacks power. what can i say, Christopher Reeve seemed to have nailed every aspect of Superman including the voice. anyway we all know that Reeve was one in a million, so we'll leave it to that.

hmm... i would've liked her better, true she could pick up the strength factor a bit (since like Canary, she sounded damsel-ly at times), but at least there wasnt anything annoying about her voice, and it sounded melodious. an aspect of WW voice is that she sounded what she looked like, and with that in mind, that's why i'd pick Gina Torres. it has nothing to do with ethnicity. going simply by how Gina sounds, a blind man can paint Wonder Woman.

I know what you're talking about with Susan Eisenberg's voice. Overall I think she did a good job, but her voice was nasally at times. Torres has a very good voice but it's not quite the way I think Diana would sound.

Baccarin would be fantastic for this! Her voice is very feminine and soft but she has a strong quality to it as well.

It would be interesting and fun to have Lynda Carter do it. But if not she needs to play someone like Queen Hippolyte or one of the gods. She may be too old to play Hippolyte in the live action film by the time they get it made, so she can at least do this.

...or perhaps we can all have our dreams answered by getting Monica Bellucci to provide her voice for the Animated Movie. But that may be unlikely as I for some reason can't see her want to play a voice actor.

Hmm who knows actually. Still would be nice though.

I always thought Jonathan Frakes would have been a good choice to do the voice of Superman, but that's just me.

Newsarama has the news that Wonder Woman will be made as a direct-to-DVD animated movie following Justice League: The New Frontier and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. Here's a promotional piece for it:

The target audience is kinda funny in that it omits boys 9-17. Oh, well, probably just a snafu. Anyway, the plot sounds good.

Interesting .

I wouldn't mind Lucy Lawless voice acting Wonder Woman here after the New Frontier Animated feature.
