World War Z Sequel

How many takes would Fincher need to get the perfect shot of a zombie biting a person?

Awesome news, great director, liked the first movie and can't wait for the sequel

Wow that's cool as ****. I imagine this one will be more like the book then.

I hope his family don't come back in the next one. They were so boring. Looking forward to seeing the siege of Stalingrad tho

Fincher is not doing this. There is just no way.

I'll be really interested if the film is actually Pitt going around an interviewing survivors like the book.

I suspect Fincher will be doing something along the lines closer to the novel like that. Maybe just have him be a linchpin for flashbacks of survivors and their accounts of the outbreak.

Nah he'll most likely be front and center in all the major set pieces again.

The novel has always been much better suited to a mini-series or tv series than a film anyways.

So this thing might as well continue on as its own thing. Unfortunately I don't know if well ever get that TV series as long as the film franchise is around?

World War Z 2 Officially Begins Production in June

In an interview with Variety on the red carpet for Beautiful Boy, producer Dede Gardner confirmed that World War Z 2 will begin production in June 2019. She also reaffirmed that Brad Pitt would be reprising his role from the first movie as Gerry Lane, with David Fincher on board to direct. Furthermore, producer Jeremy Kleiner provides an update on the script, saying that screenwriter Dennis Kelly is still working on it, but they're quite happy with what they have so far.

Wow thought this was dead in the water glad to know it's still coming.

It feels like every year they put it on the studio is like “oh wait we never made a sequel to that” and some news dribbles out haha

Glad to see at least some movement on this. Was not a fan of the first film at all, but Fincher's involvement is enough to peak my interest.

I really liked the first movie but hope they can get some more sequences from the book into the sequel. And Fincher is a great choice.

I completely forgot this movie existed. Fincher might be able to make this work but I feel like The Walking Dead soured me on zombie horror for life.

Paramount Pulls The Plug On David Fincher's 'World War Z' Sequel [Exclusive]

Sources close to the project for years, tell us that Paramount Pictures pulled the plug last night and director David Fincher‘s film is dead.

Budget, as is usually the case, was definitely an issue, but only to a degree. Fincher and his team were proposing something less than the budget of the original ($190 million according to Box Office Mojo, before the costly reshoots). However, Paramount’s known about this figure since at least last year and had hemmed and hawed about the project for months. One might think it not entirely coincidental that Paramount, that makes far fewer films than the average studio, just allotted a lot of money for two significant blockbusters—”Mission Impossible 7” & ‘8‘ that will arrive in the summer of 2021 and 2022, and just landed official release dates.

The officially untitled “World War Z 2” was roughly aiming for a summer shoot—Fincher is currently still busy editing “Mindhunter” season two for Netflix—but the writing might have been on the wall given how slow and tentative Paramount was with the project.

Perhaps a lack of movement is slightly disingenuous. “World War Z 2” had been staffing up for a lengthy shoot this year, five different countries and a six-month shoot in Atlanta, which is why various tracking companies like Production Weekly had been listing it lately (last year, erroneous reports surfaced that the film was shooting in the fall), but the film simply never received its green light, and none of these hires were officially made. Brad Pitt is apparently not a happy camper with the studio right now.

Boo!

Fincher just doesn’t have any luck greenlighting a big budget movie. This. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

I hate seeing David Fincher's time wasted.

And this will always be the argument against dealing with studios.

So is the film happening at all?
I've been doubting it for years. It's been way too long

Well, at this point I don't care about it anymore.

of course a Fincher production is going to film for 6 months and have a big budget. agree to his terms or leave him alone to do other things.
