Which was the worst stand alone movie based on a DC character ever. This poll won't include a bad movie as part of a series, such as Batman & Robin or Superman 4. Just a character's first and so far only shot at a solo movie.
Options include Steel, Catwoman, Green Lantern, Jonah Hex, and Supergirl.

Personally I can find some enjoyment in Green Lantern and Supergirl, both have quality scoreds and likeable leads too. The rest on the list are awful. I've never sat down and watched Catwoman the whole way through so I'm gonna go for Steel.

I went with Catwoman because at least the rest of the movies had enough respect for the characters to actually make the movie about the comic book character. Instead of making up a character that just used the name.
Jonah Hex and Supergirl were great characters stuck in a bad plot. I too could never make it all the way through Catwoman because even the character was just bad.

I don't even count Catwoman since that's got nothing to do with the DC Universe except for the name "Catwoman."

Lets see here:

-GL is just "meh" but far from the worst CBM that I've seen (it's biggest sin is just being a gigantic disappointment given all of the cool/interesting source material that was available to it).

-Supergirl and Jonah Hex are both awful, but there are at least a few things in them that I could enjoy.

-But Steel, UGH was that PAINFUL to sit through. It takes the #1 crap spot imo.

I haven't seen Steel, but of the others Catwoman easily. I don't mind the GL movie and I loved Helen Slater as Supergirl. Even Jonah Hex has some good cast members (albeit, wasted) - plus Megan Fox to look at. But Catwoman, I cannot bring myself to watch that movie ever again.

Pretty much sums up my feelings exactly.

The best thing about Supergirl was Helen Slater who was cute and likeable - also the flying effects were a step up from the Superman films.

GL had Mark Strong's note perfect performance as Sinestro, but was otherwise very disappointing.

Jonah Hex managed to make some very good actors (Fassbender and Malkovich) give some very average performances.

Catwoman has Halle Berry, who is both gorgeous and had the guts and sense of humour to actually turn up for her Razzie.

Steel was pretty much irredeemable crap. So Steel definitely comes last.

Of those on this list, Catwoman is the worst. However, I find all of these preferable to Lego Batman.

I won't have a bad thing said about Supergirl, it's kitsch gold. :SG:

I really think Steel could carry his own movie. Admittedly, I'm only familiar with him from the DCAU (all his appearances were strong), a few JLA comics, and the Death/Return of Superman arc, but I think he's a fantastic and compelling character

The first film failed partly because they made him too independent of Superman

Throw Cavill's Superman into the STEEL movie and it could really work

Definitely not Green Lantern. That's at least a professionally done film.

Steel is bad, but it is a dumb, goofy harmless film starring a basketball player.

I barely even remember Jonah Hex anymore.

Supergirl is atrociously bad and makes no sense, but at least I don't hate Helen Slater in the lead role.

That leaves Catwoman, which has basically ZERO positive things in it. It is an abomination to cinema and one of the worst movies ever made.

Catwoman by five miles.

The editing alone in Catwoman makes it the worst one. Steel was one of my fav guilty pleasures when I was a kid.

Catwoman is not even a DC comics movie, it took mildly from Batman Returns and added loads of its own BS. I did not watch the movie, will not watch it, and will never count it as a CBM.

I did not watch Jonah Hex, not big on the character, or westerns.

Steel is entertaining, I like it.

Green Lantern is ok, I have neither love nor hate for it.

I have zero memory of Supergirl, beside a mention of Superman, and the quick change behind trees.

I'm pleased to see Constantine didn't make the list. I like it but I know a lot of people don't. I haven't seen Steel or Jonah Hex, so I will go with Catwoman.

Worst DC standalone movie?

No further questions, your honour.

I agree that Constantine wasn't awful. I'm not even a particular fan of Keanu Reeves, but he was decent in his role and the film had an interesting concept going for it.

??????

I don't get that at all!

I'm assuming that you're talking about Lego Batman and not Catwoman. LB is the worst licensed CBM that I've ever seen, and I've seen just about all of them.

Constantine was a poor adaptation of the source material, but it was a good movie in its own right. It really doesn't belong amidst these, which are just plain terrible movies ( and *also* generally poor adaptations, too ).

Coming from a huge Hellblazer fan... Constantine is actually quite enjoyable, despite some obvious departures from the comics. I like to think of it as an Elseworlds tale more than anything else nowadays.

Couldn't choose between Steel and Catwoman, ended up flipping a coin. Though now that I've voted Steel my gut tells me Catwoman was worse. The rest had at least at a little respect for the source, even if they completely f***ed up the execution (can't speak for Jonah Hex though, haven't seen it).
