What is it?

For me, it has to be Eragon. Crappy storytelling (Jeremy Irons gives the backstory twice), stupid acting (Malkovich blows, the kids are dumb), the effects scream direct-to-DVD, and the worst lines are repeated to the point of idiocy (you're one part brave, three parts fool is said at least five times),

and it all sets up for a sequel. ugh

The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes. It's a film directed by the Brothers Quay so I thought I was in for a treat, but the film was an insufferable, pretentious bore.

Biggest dissapointment was Miami Vice but all in all worst movie was probably Date Movie.

The Departed.

It was too good to bear.

Seriously?

Date Movie is up there, X-Men 3 blew, The Queen is amazing well-acted but even for Frears poorly directed.

Miami Vice...big letdown for me..

Seen some mediocre movies like 16 Blocks but the 2 that stand out as worst are Warrior King and more so X3

Date Movie. I'm pretty easy to please with movies, even sucky ones, but Date Movie sucked big time. It was barely funny. Only 1 or so scenes were funny and thats it. The rest was just horrible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; you guys have no idea what a bad movie really is. Hollywood movies, no matter how poor, will always have redeeming features, high quality production values, and so on.

The really bad ones are the straight-to-DVD-or-VHS movies, stuff with hardly any budget whatsoever, no talent involved, and barely enough equiptment to even make the film in the first place. Stuff that is so rushed, everything is a first take. Where you see people mess up lines on camera because it's too expensive to reshoot.

Unwatchable stuff. They're the worst movies ever made.

While that's true it has no bearing on the thread, the topic is merely what is the worst movie you've seen in 2006 not what is the worst movie made in 2006 so even if you pick a movie that was something you thought was at least mediocre it's still the worst movie you have personally seen this year:cwink:

True, but surely people have seen films other than big event movies this year?

Well i have but Ive never watched any straight to DVD or TV movie stuff
Usually when i find the time to settle down for a movie i choose something(Old or new) that has had good WOM or a big movie i missed on the cinema and have picked up on DVD or an old favourite

miami vice...... or if a uwe boll movie came out.

and black christmas

Annapolis and The Hills Have Eyes were pretty terrible. But Ultraviolet takes the cake. What a sorry display that was.

And I'm surprised by all the Miami Vice and X3 comments. Surely there were worse, or maybe you just didn't see much.

Fair enough.

I just named one, but you chose to ignore it since you had no idea what it was or who it was by.

Should we even count those as movies though? A film is a piece of art to say the least, and those movies are merely just cheap cash ins that dont resemble films what so ever. I mean at least in Date movie comedians are trying to be funny (unsucessful). But in a movie like the butterfly effect 2....I just don't think of Direct to dvd movies as actual movies.

Well i did see The Hills have Eyes and i loved it

Of course they're movies. They're mostly bad, but take Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, for example. It's a fantastic film.

Probably wise.

Glad you did. I didn't much care for it.

I liked the homages to Straw Dogs. And that Aaron Standford is getting roles in big films. But that's all.
