2017 & 2018 will feature MCU putting out three movies a year.

I personally really enjoyed when MCU puts out a film in November (fall). This year its Feb, May, and July. Wondering if you guys would want MCU to make 4 films a year, one for each season, or if that will be watering the genre down ??

Yes.

Would I like them to make four blockbusters a year?

No.

Not at all. I mean, ultimately, if they did, I wouldn't see all four of them anyway because there are enough movies that come out in a year on top of the onslaught of superhero movies we're getting in a year as of recent.

If this happened, I'd probably only see one or two of them and save the others for home release because no way would I need or want to see all of them, regardless of quality. That time could be better spent watching an indie film I'd prefer watching.

When you add up the MCU and the X-Men I going to four Marvel movies and watching twice that number of hours of Marvel TV per year anyway

Four is too much. Less is more here.

I would MUCH rather have 4 or even 5 true Marvel films a years than 7 or 8 Marvel films from Fox, Sony and Marvel.

If this deal goes through and they take control of X-Men and FF, they'll be able to easily increase the number of films they make while the gross number of Marvel films drops.

If they start trying to diversify and do smaller films that aren't just inside their usual template, sure. If it is like it currently is? No, the market is already close to saturation. With that said Black Panther is amazing, so I'd love if they made more movies like that.

It would be fine as long as the quality doesn't dip, which is impossible to answer until we see it.

I ultimately think once the FOX deal is complete this will become a reality.

I’d definitely be interested in seeing them make lower budgeted films. The Black Widow movie, for example, doesn’t have to be as expensive to produce as any of their other movies.

I’d also like to see them take a risk and experiment with animation. Partner with Pixar and release an animated, in continuity film.

I want it to happen, sure. It's not like that will mean more CBMs altogether as Fox is getting absorbed into Marvel so we are losing however many films they would have put out. It may even mean less CBMs altogether even after moving to 4. With the DCEU likely dialling back for the next couple of years too I think the saturation problem will have taken care of itself.

That would be my concern.

Four superhero films between Marvel, DC and any other studio would be nice, but they're always going to be in competition (to some extent) and aren't likely to release four between them. I think two or three MCU films a year is a good number, and/or one or two DC films (if they can sort themselves out and get stuff right).

I'm not really all that bothered about the X-Men franchise at the moment; with the exception of Logan, I haven't really rated any of the newer films.

As long as script writers can come with enough creative fresh stories to justify 4 movies, I would welcome it. Maybe vary it by doing either 3 or 4 every 2 or so years, as oppose to contantly 4 a year.
I think genre over saturation will be subdued quite a bit once Fox's slate, as individual producers, are out of the picture and absorbed. This influx of new characters/content sequentially helps Mcu script writers immensely in creating stories to expand to that additional movie.
So I almost look at it as a natural progression really, basic economics. One less competitor in business to sell a certain goods... you fill the void and take the opportunity to increase production of yours, increase profit margin.

Remember this is a small studio. I think 4 would be pushing it. Three is maxed out I feel.

Studios get bigger by having success and reinvesting the profits into future capacity. Fox being taken off the table means we are going to have less CBMs so the saturation angle doesn't make sense if the deal goes through. As well as Spidey (non-villain) films also being now counted in the 3/4 MCU films per year. WB will soon be the only other studio making CBMs at all (aside from Spidey villain films) and they are going to be taking it slow for a few years after JL.

True, but I'm just going by the way the studio operates. It's more collaborative and intimate then other studios and Kevin (with Louis and Victoria) works with writers and directors to help shape the stories and direction of the film (to some degree) and greater MCU. More films means diluting his time on each film, which is a step closer to more traditional Hollywood model. His more hands-on approach keeps things neat and helps with quality control in general. I'm not sure he'd want things to become too unwieldy but I would love it if they branched out with other studio lines (like R-rated fare, ie Deadpool).

Even Coogler said Marvel Studios is basically just Kevin and his Amazing Friends.

I see what you're saying but it's going to take them forever to get anything done at only 3 films a year once they get all the rights back to everything and still have multiple sequels to do for the new characters. It's leaving a hell of a lot of money on the table and they are a business at the end of the day. Also by utilising these rights it means its going to take a lot longer to develop all except the characters that have the biggest case for having films made. Why not promote guys like Coogler to a higher 'systemic' status within the MCU to help Feige with oversight etc and also secure their filmmaking talents in the same way. I wish they had managed to do that with the Russos, and they could have tried with the likes of Gunn and Waititi.

One a quarter would be nice...but only if it didn't come at a cost to quality.

I've sadly given up on star wars and dc so would like 4 films a year. As said xmen and ff are hopefully going to be in the mcu so it should be ok.

Sure but its a bit much.

Maybe one Fix stops releasing their Marvel films.
