For a teaser...go old school. Get a composer to drum up some really dramatic music, show an absolutly insane looking old school blacksmith style workshop very very gritty, maybe a flash or two of some kind of odd technology behind it, show an odd looking vat with chunks of metalic stone in it.

Then show the vat being raised high into a stormy night by a sophisticated pulley system, flashes of more technology.

Then as if a god had directed them a thousand lightning stirkes hit the vat, the contents become liquid. This molten liquid is then poured into a mold, it is the mold of a hammer head, the mold is more complicated then the age would denote... it allows for a hollow middle (this is where then handle will be placed)

Screen goes dark... the music grows more intense!!

next flash the mold breaking apart and the hammer head strikes the floor. It sits on an odd kind of angle, as if some how suspended in mid fall... part of it smelted right through a rocky floor.

an elaborate wrapped handle is stuck into the hole, it sizzles into place. The man who places it there tries to lift it but can not....




Marvel Logo..... Huge Thunder Clap followed by massize lightning strike to the Electrified word.... Thor.

And use the same theme they used on the Star Trek Trailer. That theme alone will get them $10 million more later at the Box-Office....

starts with odin (hopkins) sitting on his throne. then you get a voiceover of odin thinking. something like " there comes a time in every father's life when you must discipline your child, but how does one discipline a god?" then odin stands up and you see him in the destroyer armor holding his sword and he walks out of the thrownroom. the chamber door shuts and you hear thunder and lighting then the movie title thor.

this may be too spoilerish with the destroyer armor, also we dont know if odin will wear it or not. this is just one idea.

Onlookers and camera crews are starting to head towards the scene of the incredible battle, as the song gets louder and louder.

Not a bad idea at all. Twilight of the Thunder God by Amon Amarth might also be a good song choice (although I don't see it working with a more subtle introduction.)

wow a yr old thread being resuricated lol. As for trailer i would love to see some heavy on asgard stuff shown first before we see earth base stuff.

Teaser:

Have the earth as seen from space.

Pan the camera backwards slowly until the screen blurs (as you pass through what you will realise is a portal of some type).

Pull back further until you see the edge of a world (like a cliff overlooking space - the portal is at the edge of the cliff), keep going until we see the hammer, then the hand holding it etc.

Keep going back until you see a half-silhoette of Thor looking at earth through the Portal.

Can't think of the dialogue I'd want, but a voice-over relating the impending banishment of Thor by Odin (Hopkins) would do me just fine.

Something along the lines of what Misjuevos suggested, "how does one discipline a god?", or "Sometimes, lessons need to be taught. Even to the sons of gods"

Of course, if he knew of the declining standards of schooling on our planet, he might have given homeschooling another chance hehehe

Start with the marvel studios screen and then start off with a horn & show the aftermath of a battle showing a lone warrior standing tall. Switch to a darkened throne room where Odin is furiously screaming "You have destroyed a peace treaty that has lasted a millenia, you lack respect, you lack humility. You leave me no choose, you are banished,... my son". Show Friggia close her eyes & bow her head & cut to a quick glimpse of Loki lurking behind Odins throne. Show a fireball fall to earth & cut to Jane Foster driving down a lone rode singing & enjoying her ride when suddenly she hits something, she gets out & sees a huge man dressed in armor & a cape, hes dazed, confused. he looks @ her, reaches out & says Mjolnir. cut to her in her office asking who are you "I am Thor, prince of Asgard", Jane says "As- what". Cut to Loki standing in a ruined throne room saying"It is now my time to rule father", Odin is down in Friggas arms & she responds" Thor will stop you" & Loki only smiles turns to the rest of the throne room & yells, "Find him." The room erupts in cheers & screams and pan out to show hundreds of trolls & giants. Cut to Thor telling Jane we have to find Mjolnir & then trolls attack, cut to action scenes as Thor fights trolls & giants, Jane & him running from fire breatheing flying demons, agent Coulson standing next to thor shooting @ the bad guys. A quick shot of the Warriors Three & Sif, then Thor & Jane kissing & then the big pay-off, Thor getting back Mjolnir, he lifts it up as the sky darkens, thunder & lightning start everywhere, an army of demons, trolls & giants are running towards Thor, he flys into the air spinning the hammer & he screams "For Odin, for Asgard!" & he flys right into the screen. fade to black "May 2011"*

For the teaser trailer, I like the idea above showing the Hammer being built. As for a trailer that actually show Thor, I think they would want to start it in Asgard with Thor and Odin arguing, then show him being banished to Earth. I hate trailers that give away too much, so just show Thor on Earth once in a non-combat scene then in a brief fight scene. The less the better.

Despite popular belief Thor probably won't be too tough of a sell if you can get the trailer down. Just the teaser alone could do it.

-Hammer being built/Odin V.O.
-Odin (displaying of the Anthony Hopkins) banishing Thor scene
-Music buildup as he rockets to Earth and cut to black
-Introduce Jane Foster (displaying of the Natalie Portman) with one line like "What are you doing here?"
-Crank up the music and show Thor ****ING. ****. UP.
-Title
-Typical Teaser Tag w/ money shot (knocking a Frost Giant on his ass or something)
-Cut to black w/ lightning crackle - "MAY 6, 2011"

That alone will have older folks going "Oh Anthony Hopkins, interesting", girls going "That guy was hot and I looooove Natalie Portman!", and dudes going "Goddamn, Thor kicks some ass!"

Release the first official trailer trailer entailing the plot and revealing the Destroyer armor and everything will be fine.

Movie trailers aren't too tough. We just have to hope the footage required to fill in the spots is actually good, which we can all pretty much agree will likely be the case.

a quick little teaser would be, mjolnir flying through space like in the ff comic. then landing on earth. then a hand reaches down to pick it up and hold it to the heavens and gets struck by lightning. then we see thor in full attire standing in the crater holding mjolnir. the scene can just be a teaser for the movie, doesnt need to be in the movie itself.

the camera follows odin's 2 ravens flying over asgard and landing in the throneroom to see thor walking in and kneeling before odin. no words necessary.

My Idea For a Teaser would Be the scene where Thor is breaking into the Shield building and it shows him taking out a few guards. Then he finally sees the hammer through a bunch of glass rooms (maybe like 50 feet away). Then you cut to a shot of Thor reaching his hand out and all of a sudden the hammer starts coming towards thor and starts crashing through each glass room and then there is a up close shot of Thor's Hand barely touching the Hammer there is a huge Lightning/flash/thunder and then in the next shot you see a shot of Thor in his full Armor and he sort of leaps up into the air and then another Flash/Thunder you see the Thor Logo

After listening to the trailer I would have liked to hear something like this in it, or a possible future trailer.
