Exclusive: The Signal's Gentry Directing MTV Slasher Film.

MTV has entered post-production on a slasher film entitled Super Psycho Sweet 16. The film is barreling along, sources tells us, for a fall release. I've got nil on plot details at this time, but I have learned that Jacob Gentry is sitting in the director's chair. He's part of triumvirate that brought us The Signal. Not entirely sure what kind of platform release the project is getting (small screen debut or theatrical); I've got my ear to the ground for more details. Stay tuned!

I don't know WTF to make of this. But it make me sad though.

Hollywood is dying a slow death. And it's not getting any slower with **** like this comes out every year. At least give us some time.

So, is it about a girl who goes crazy that her sweet 16 party doewsn't turn out the way she wants.

It's basically one of those bratty mtv 16 year old girls who go psycho.

But they already are??

some chick going slasher psycho on her sweet 16 birthday is a pretty fun and entertaining idea with great potential. but, whether or not the film itself fulfills that potential....its unlikely.

Who the hell knows?

Just when you thought MTV couldn't get any lower. Sellng a "slasher" film to tweens.

It'll be PG-13 for sure or even PG.

The Signal Director Completes MTV's 'My Super Psycho Sweet 16'

Jacob Gentry, who was one of the three brains behind the Sundance smash-hit The Signal, has just completed production on a new horror feature for MTV Films entitled My Super Psycho Sweet 16, which will get a limited theatrical run and air on MTV this October. Written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Alan Thomas, we're still digging for a synopsis. Chris Zylka, Ric Reitz, Lauren McKnight, Matt Angel, Justin Price, Melanie Booth, Alex Van and Max Calder all star.

Turns out its already done, but who cares.

Atleast it won't be in theaters long. So it'll make rat s*** at the B.O.

No one else is finding it hilarious that JAL is the one making a fuss about this movie but yet complains when people make a fuss about a remake?

on this movie's defense, Motown Marvel makes a very valid point

Is this or is this not based on the mtv show?

Has anyone actually seen the show?

If it's going to end up on MTV in October then what's the point of putting it in the theaters?

Dude, everything Kevin Williamson touches has the stink of PG-13 MTV production. This isn't the first time they tried a bite of the slasher franchising.

The sweet 16 thing though, just sounds brainlessly dumb. I know it's MTV, but dammit, do they just lack any taste or soul?

they should just turn it into a comedy about some braty girls...

Well, this is made by the guy who did The Signal, which was a brilliant movie...but on the other hand this is from MTV...:csad:
I'm not sure what to think.
And I don't know what J Alba's lover is b****ing about, this seems right up his alley...:o

Aw I was hoping it would be some dude killing a load of pretentious spoilt brats. :csad:

ore On MTV's Super Psycho Sweet 16

Looks like we got the jump on The Hollywood Reporter. On Tuesday, we announced director Jacob Gentry had wrapped production on My Super Psycho Sweet 16, a slasher for MTV. THR revealed the plot synopsis today:

The film follows a girl named Madison Penrose, spoiled throughout her life to the extent that she convinces her parents to re-open Rollerdome for her Sweet 16. Obviously, the Rollerdome once closed because a series of brutal murders took place at the locale, and, of course, the killer comes back to wreak havoc during her party.

MTV will air a television cut and then offer a more graphic edition for viewers to download via the internet - part of a new original film series they're launching

So these are gonna be part of a film series?

Um, how is this any worse than the umpteen DTV horror schlock "films" you watch on a regular basis?
