Think X2 has the better action, and DOFP has the better story.

I really like both but if I had to choose it would be X2.

Tough, both are excellent, but I think I give it to DofP.

I'm gonna say Days of Future Past, hands down.

When I first started browsing forums and communities where other people shared my interest for superhero movies, I was actually quite chocked at first how much people liked X2. I remembered liking it when it came out, but not on the same level. So I had to re-watch it, and I enjoyed it more, being a few years older, but DFOP is still a better movie IMO. I probably even enjoyed First Class slightly more than X2, despite some jarring CGI.

X2 no contest

for me, had better story, better performances, better characters, and more emotional and impactful action scenes
DOFP just kinda tried way too hard, if ya know what I mean

DofP.

X2 would have been a much different movie had the world of the X-Men ever invented cell phones and that just bugs me enough to drop it down a few notches.

X2.

DOFP has grown on me alot with the Prof X narrative but my issues have stayed the same. The early exposition takes me out of the film and the lack of team communication in the future is terrible. The third act also is a let down for me given what they had to work with especially regarding the use of the sentinels. After they built them not to be controlled by Magneto he remote controls them any.

DOFP did have a better balance of fun then X2 that I think fits the series more, but overall I think X2 was shot, edited and written better. My initial reaction when I walked out of the theatre was also just very stronger for X2 and FC then DOFP.

X2.No matter how good DOFP is X2 is of the golden comic book films for me with Superman and The Dark Knight.

Both great, but I feel X2 was Singer really hitting the highs of the franchise, whereas DOFP was still weakened by the damage X3 and XO:W did. There's a sense that people are making do with the scraps left behind, namely characters and settings not ruined by Ratner, and that in an ideal world the franchise would have been better planned out and executed.

In short, Singer's X3 would most likely have been better than either.

REALLY Tough question this, I have this debate with myself often, both movies I walked out of the cinema just amazed and totally satisfied by. Both are in my top 3 CBMs of all time, I just can't decide which one I like more.

I liked DOFP better.

But X2 remains the definitive X-Men film.

Hmmmmmmm toughy.

X2 has so many great moments and really set things rolling for comic book movies, that Nighcrawler opening, the school night attack, Logans weapon X flashbacks, Magneto's escape, Mystique the entire film and Jeans sacrifice.

DoFP had all the things I wanted to see that they couldnt do back then in an X-Men film, combing powers, Sentinels flying in formation with Magneto, bigger power displays, Fassbender and MaCavoy on top form, dat Quicksilver making dose haterz look like nubs and somehow managing to make a complex time jumping plot not unravel into a giant mess.

Still a tough choice but I think DoFP just about wins it just for sheer ambition. (plus an extended cut to come)

X2 was brilliant. Best X film, best story, most compelling villain and still a masterpiece. Very few films left me that satisfied when I walked out the theatre. Still a top 3 comic book film for me.

It's a really close battle between these two and First Class as well, but if I had to choose one it would be DOFP. It may not have the best action but it has the best character interactions and story IMO.

That's a good point Blackfox brought up, DOFP is getting an extended cut, that may tip the balance once that comes out.

Always loved X2, but found it can get dull in places.

I came out of DoFP thinking that was easily one of the best CBM's and the best X movie, but on Blu-Ray the cinematography was so distressingly bad it took me out of it. Also it was a little messier than I remembered, but as I say, I was distracted by the look of it all. It looked great in the theatre, so I really didn't expect that.

I'll have to watch it again to break the tie. :D

DOFP, by a hair. Love both though, it's tough to choose.

I used to be obsessed with X2, now I'm obsessed with DOPF.

I love X2 and everything about it, but even though DOPF has its major continuity flaws ( :funny: ), it's now my new favourite (not by much).

Just the way it ends brings a tear to my eye. The "old" past with its death and destruction is so heartbreaking. The end of the movie makes me feel good and I like feeling good.
