Ti West Unveils Teaser for Surprise ‘X’ Prequel ‘Pearl’ at SXSW!

Ti West’s Pearl rewinds even further to 1918. Because it’s a prequel, to describe the trailer might spoil some of X‘s surprises. But it looks even more insane than X, and the trailer teases that it’s “coming soon.”

A24 will be releasing X nationwide this Friday. Exclusive prequel footage will be available only in theaters.

I read there was a post-credit scene, but when I seen it there wasn't one. Seems some got it and some didn't.

Apparently it's the teaser for the prequel.

A wild and fun homage to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the 70s grindhouse era (that also subverts some things).

That prequel footage looks insane as well.

Why were Howard and Pearl killing people? Are they just crazy or did they have a reason like they hate porn? Is that the reason for the damn prequel coming? Ti West realized he didn't have a motive so filmed a prequel simultaneously to give an answer?

Wow, was I wrong about my intial impressions about this movie! Easily the best slasher I've seen in the last ten years.

It's heavily implied that they've been killing people for awhile (did you see the car in the lake?) because Pearl is clearly looking for a bond with someone but continues to be unsuccessful.
