Sequels X-Men: Legacy

[JP]

INT. XAVIER MANSION-HALL
Wolverine is walking faster than before. He’s like a dog in search for his ball. The X-Men are right behind him. He finds the exit to the garden and opens the door.

EXT. GARDEN-NIGHT
Wolverine walks outside and sees the three mutants surrounding Jeans grave.

WOLVERINE
What the hell is going on here?
STORM
Oh My God.

WOLVERINE
Jean.

Gambit, Avalanche and Blob stand before Jean’s grave in a defensive position. Wolverine extracts his claws.

WOLVERINE (cont)
Get away from her!

Suddenly a voice is heard and Wolverine stops in his tracks.

EMMA
(V/O)
I’d put those claws away if I were you.

Emma appears in front of Wolverine who, along with Storm and the others, are in front of the mansion. Behind Emma is Magneto dressed in a black cloak.

STORM
Emma? What’s going on here?

EMMA
Easy now, my dear. I thought it would be of my best interest to check up on my latest investment.

Wolverine grunts at Magneto.

WOLVERINE
What’s he doing here?

Emma turns around and glances at Magneto. She then turns back to face Wolverine.

EMMA
Well, no one ever said I couldn’t bring a friend!

Looks are exchanged between the X-Men

COLOSSUS
I knew it. What do you really want with this school.

EMMA
I assure you, I have no objective with this institute. My presence here is strictly business. Although, now that you mention it…

STORM
(interrupting)
We had a deal. You wouldn’t touch this school.

EMMA
The inside, yes. Now the outside. Well, that is an entirely different matter, Ms. Monroe. Like this lovely garden here. It could use some… work.

Gambit takes out a long metal staff and jams it inside Jean’s grave.

BEAST
My gracious!

The X-Men are stunned at what Gambit has done.

WOLVERINE
Alright, bub. That’s enough.

Emma quickly stops Wolverine before he moves to far.

EMMA
Take one more step and you’ll be in violation of our contract. I will seize the school and you and your children will be left with nothing. You wouldn’t want that now would you.

Wolverine is anxious, but he steps down.

EMMA
Good boy. Now, if you’ll excuse me… Jean and I need to have a little talk.

Emma walks away from Wolverine and toward Gambit. Avalanche and Blob are standing side by side in front of Gambit. Before talking to Gambit, she first gives the two an order.

EMMA
Don’t let them get too close.

EXT. GARDEN-X-MEN

The X-Men are still in shock at what is going on. In just a few minutes things have changed for the worst. Magneto has yet to move from his original position.

BEAST
What are you trying to accomplish Erik?

MAGNETO
My goals are not ones you should be concerned with.

EXT. GARDEN- EMMA
Emma and Gambit stand above Jeans grave. The metal staff spikes from the dirt in a perfectly straight line.

EMMA
My psychic vibrations should be enough to wake her. But just to be safe, I may need to enhance my powers.

Gambit unzips a bag sitting at his feat. He opens the bag and takes out what is inside. It is the helmet used for Emma’s Cerebra. Emma takes the helmet and places it on her head.

EMMA
Now, down to business.

Emma grabs the staff and concentrates. We see a flash indicating the power released from her head and through the staff, into the ground.

EXT. GARDEN-X-MEN

BEAST
You know I never thought I’d see the day when Magneto is working for anyone other than himself. I guess being human all this time has changed you.

MAGNETO
You have no idea what you’re talking about. This has nothing to do with me or Emma or anyone else. This is about Jean, and how she will be the one to save us all.

WOLVERINE
Jean Grey is dead.

MAGNETO
I’ve heard that before.

STORM
What exactly are you getting at?

MAGNETO
Jean Grey is the only known class five mutant in existence. Her power is limitless. So much so that Jean Grey herself is immortal. The Phoenix burns within her and can never die. After every lost battle she rises once again from the ashes… stronger. A true Goddess.

WOLVERINE
All this time and you’re still full of ****.

EXT. GARDEN-EMMA

Emma continues to use her power in an attempt to wake Jean. She suddenly stops. She feels something.

EMMA
Here we go.

The ground begins to shake as if it were an earth quake.

WOLVERINE
I’ve had enough.

Wolverine charges toward Emma but crashes into the belly of The Blob who suddenly appears in front of him.

STORM
Logan!

Storm takes after Wolverine, but is soon stopped by Avalanche.

AVALANCHE
Hey pretty lady.

Storm looks in disgust. She gets ready to attack but the ground beneath her begins to crack. She realizes that it is Avalanche causing this. She gets ready to strike, but soon falls through the ground until she is completely gone.

Wolverine gets up from the Blobs hit and extracts his claws. He stabs him in the belly, but the Blob barely nudges. He grabs Wolverines arm and breaks it, but not before he releases the claws from his innards.

Emma watches in delight as the dirt particles covering Jeans grave begin to float in mid air.

The X-Men are standing watching the events unfold.

BOBBY
Isn’t it time we step in?

BEAST
I think it is.

Beast, Bobby, Kitty, Angel and Colossus charge into battle. Gambit sees this and prepares to attack. He whips out a set of cards, holds them tightly in the palms of his hands. We see a colorful spark pop from his cards. He’s done something to them. Gambit tosses the cards at the X-Men and they fall at their feet, stopping them in their tracks. They look at the cards below them in confusion. Beast looks at Gambit as he winks back at Beast. Suddenly the cards all explode in a shocking blast that knocks the X-Men through the mansion.

INT. MANSION-SAME TIME
The students are freaked. The X-Men are lying in front of them covered in debris. Rogue walks through the hall and sees them.

ROGUE
Oh my God! Bobby!

EXT. GARDEN
The hole Storm fell through is black, but then a light shines through. Storm rises from the ground with her eyes completely white. Her hands are charged with lightning as she flies toward Avalanche and Blob and shocks them. Avalanche flies though the bushes into nowhere, while Blob falls into a seated position

STORM
Logan, are you alright?

Wolverine gets up from off the floor and dusts himself off.

WOLVERINE
I’ve been better.

STORM
What’s happening?

The grass begins to lift itself off the ground. The two remaining X-Men watch as Emma, Magneto and Gambit stand firmly in front of Jean Grey’s headstone.

WOLVERINE
It’s… Jean.

 

[JP]

[JP]

A burst of light from under the ground erupts like a volcano. It’s blinding. The bright like consumes the entire garden.

MAGNETO
I hope you know what you’re doing.

EMMA
You need not worry Erik. Just do what I told you to do when the time comes.

Wolverine and Storm take a step back for safety. They can barely see anything that is happening, only the shine from Jean’s grave. The ground is shaking tremendously. But then, almost instantaneously, the ground stops moving and the light vanishes. Standing at the foot of Jean Grey’s grave is the not so dead Jean Grey herself. Her eyes are as black as the rest of her figure. Emma shivers as the undead Jean Grey stands before her. Her body is engulfed in the terrible rot of her flesh. Her barely there eye lids close as a new life begins to form on the decaying embodiment of Jean Grey. The new life is slowly becoming as it begins to take shape. But in no time it does. New skin, new hair, new fingers, and new eyes which open with a bright flash of light. A red fabric takes shape across the body of Jean. The fabric forms a clothing that is familiar to Magneto and the X-Men. It is the clothing of THE PHOENIX.

INT. MANSION-SAME TIME

ROGUE
Bobby! Angel! Oh God!

Beast and the younger X-Men slowly come to.

BOBBY
Rogue… what..

ROGUE
Easy now. You’re hurt. What happened?

ANGEL
It was Emma.

ROGUE
Who?

Beast gets up from off the floor with his hand on his head. Through the newly made whole in the mansion walls he sees Jean.

BEAST
I’m afraid Emma is the least of our worries.

EXT. GARDEN
The Phoenix breathes heavily.

EMMA
Glad you could join us.

PHOENIX
Why are you here.

EMMA
I’m here because I need you.

PHOENIX
Need me? You’re nothing but an insignificant spec.

The trees begin to tremble at Jean’s words. The winds blows harder.

EMMA
Now Jean… listen to me for a moment.

PHOENIX
Jean Grey is not here. Speak only to the Phoenix.

Magneto takes a stand in front of Emma.

MAGNETO
Perhaps you should listen to her Jean.

Jean looks at Magneto. Her face becomes expressionless. The wind stops blowing and the trees tremble no more.

PHOENIX
You.

MAGNETO
Yes. It’s me. Let’s have a talk, shall we?

 

[JP]

I know, it was a small update... I'm really sorry.

I'm having a hard time finding the time to write.

 

[JP]

PHOENIX
I know what you’re going to say.

MAGNETO
Then you know why we’re here. With you we can accomplish everything we’ve ever dreamt of. You will be free. We will all be free.

PHOENIX
You’ve always had a way with words.

Magneto smiles.

PHOENIX (cont)
But I no longer care for this world or the people in it. Both human and mutant.

MAGNETO
As I thought. Well, if you wont do it for us, then do it for yourself. Think about it Phoenix. Think about the joy. Think about the thrill. Think about the pleasures, the destruction. . . The victory.

The Phoenix excites with delight.

PHOENIX
Yes.

WOLVERINE
Jean! No! Don’t listen to him.

Storm grabs Wolverine tightly to make sure he doesn’t get too close.

PHOENIX
You. You did this to me!

WOLVERINE
I’m sorry Jean.. I had to. Jean-

PHOENIX
(interrupting)
I am Phoenix!

WOLVERINE
No. Jean, listen to me. Don’t let her take control. Fight it.

STORM
Listen to him Jean.

Phoenix is confused. She lets out a gasp as Jean struggles to break free.

JEAN
I… can’t.

EMMA
Now. While she’s week.

Gambit suddenly appears behind Jean holding a metal brace in his hand. In a quick motion he clasps it around Jean’s neck and it locks. Phoenix turns toward Gambit in rage. The hair on her head begins to stand.

PHOENIX
Do you wish to die?

Emma lifts a flap on her belt that holds a remote like device. With the touch of a button, Jean’s hair falls flat on her head and she collapses. She is somehow deemed powerless. Magneto watches in disgust.

 

[TKing]

Bump. Nice work, can't wait for more.

Emma towers over the unconscious Jean.

EMMA
You did well Erik. Don’t ask me why she listens to you, but that isn’t important. The hard part is over. Now come, come.

Gambit picks Jean up and carries her over his shoulder. The group begins to leave as Storm stops Emma in her tracks.

STORM
If You think I’m letting you leave with her you have another thing coming.

EMMA
Oh, my dear, you don’t have a choice.

Emma raises her eyebrow and Storm stands frozen in here place. The other X-Men notice that they too cannot move.

EMMA
Pleasure doing business with you Ms. Monroe.

Emma and her gang stroll past Storm. They leave the mansion, in no hurry. Soon after the X-Men regain their movement, but Emma is long gone.

INT. UNKNOWN LOCATION

It is white, A warm mist flows through the area. The tranquil environment appears to have an almost heavenly essence. A figure lays on the floor. It is Jean. She wakes up in an instant, frightened and scared. She soon calms down. She is confused as to were she is. This place is unfamiliar to her. She looks around in bewilderment. She looks down and notices that her clothes are different. A long green dress flows over her body. On her waist is a belt with a bird like emblem on it. Jean glares at her buckle for a moment. She then gets up and walks around. She can’t see much of were she is going. A white fog covers her surroundings. In the distance, Jean sees a figure walking toward her. Suddenly the face behind the figure becomes clearer. Jean’s heart races with excitement. It is CYCLOPS.

JEAN
Scott?

CYCLOPS
Jean.

She runs toward him and embraces him. She holds on tight without any indication of ever letting go.

JEAN
Oh God Scott. I thought I’d never see you again. I love you so much.

CYCLOPS
Then why?

Jean releases him. She looks him in the face.

JEAN
What?

CYCLOPS
Why Jean. Why would you do that if you loved me?

JEAN
Scott, what are you talking about? What did I do?

CYCLOPS
How can you not remember? Murderer.

JEAN
No, Scott. No…

CYCLOPS
Why?

Jean steps back. She puts her hands on her head in confusion.

JEAN
No.


CYCLOPS
I thought you loved me.

JEAN
Stop it! I don’t know what you’re talking about.

CYCLOPS
Why Jean. Why.

Cyclops skin begins to tremble. His face warps until there is nothing left.

JEAN
Scott!

Jean falls to the ground in horror. The tears flow until a shadow is cast upon her.

VOICE
Have you forgotten everything I taught you?

Jean looks up to see Professor Xavier, in his chair, before her.

JEAN
Professor? Help me.

XAVIER
Only you can help yourself Jean. But I’m afraid it’s too late for you.

JEAN
What do you mean?

XAVIER
You are a danger to everyone around you. You killed hundreds of innocent people. You destroy everything you touch.

JEAN
Don’t say that.

XAVIER
It’s true. You were like a daughter to me, but now… now you’re just a monster.

JEAN
No. I’m not a monster. I’m not a monster!

Jean closes her eyes and covers her ears. She refuses to listen to what she is hearing. She opens her eyes again, but Xavier is gone. She looks up at a new figure in front of her. She slowly gets up off the floor, staring at this new figure. What she is looking at is something very familiar to her. It is herself. Jean studies the reflection in front of her. She notices the similar dress she is wearing, only this one is red. Jean realizes that this is no reflection in front of her. It is Phoenix.

JEAN
Who are you?

PHOENIX
You don’t remember? You called for me once, in your hour of need. You wanted to save them.

JEAN
Yes. I remember now.

PHOENIX
Then you remember the water. We might have died, but I saved you.

JEAN
We should have died.

PHOENIX
We didn’t. But we had so much fun, didn’t we?

JEAN
You killed so many. You destroyed so much. You call that fun?

PHOENIX
You? We. We killed. We destroyed.

JEAN
No. I wouldn’t.

PHOENIX
Then why didn’t you stop me? You could have if you wanted to.

JEAN
Shut up.

PHOENIX
The truth is, you enjoyed it just as much as I did.


JEAN
I’m nothing like you.
