X3's competition getting slammed by critics!

^ X3 is highly likely to have 2 35-40 million dollar single day takes.
Dude your in a friggin fantasy world, sorry. That kind of money was do able back when SM1 came out or X2 came out, but today the market has been drying up. People have been fed up with movies for a while,http://money.cnn.com/2005/05/10/news/fortune500/summer_movies/ this article illustrates it nicely. You also have to understand much more people are buying DVDs, and ordering movies direct these days and the threatres are having a tougher time getting an audience because of that.

oh man, don't you just LOVE how theater owners think that putting MORE advertisements is going to HELP their BO?

I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater. You ladies play your cards right you just might get to meet the whole gang.

^ It's a lock man. There hasn't been as big of a fan based event pic since. And dont' tell me Batman Begins or Kong because they didn't have the fan appeal to the kind of audience that goes and sees the film 2 or 3 times like X1-X3 has. I assure you 100 million over 4 days. With a monster Friday, Saturday, and very strong Sunday. Even Monday should be around 15-17 million being a holiday. The highest day should approach 40 million. I don't remember a movie in recent memory that's had the level of advertising exposure that Fox has done for X3 from so many different avenues. Every kid on earth wants to see this film. It'll make it's money back in a week with overseas figures in a breeze.

That money article is from 2005 when no massive releases came out that would bring in figures like 2004's Spiderman. Spiderman 3 will have bigger #'s than the original thanks to several factors including the likely final film with Tobey, Venom, Sandman, and the amount of action in this film over the first two.

Lastly X3 is a movie people want to see on the big screen & buy the DVD later. The F/X in this film are groundbreaking and it's meant to be seen in the theatre. This isn't "Good Night & Good Luck".

It will make more eventually....I think we'll have a new thing, like movies based on mythology or Epics or something that will get everyone going to the theatre again and then it will slump again....I mean folks if Batman Begins only made 48 mil its openning weekend, don't expect much more from X3 which is surely to be less critically acclaimed and not as good. Same with Sin City which only made 29 mil.

Begins didn't make much opening weekend but it went on to be HUGE.

Forgot about that one. But you just helped prove my point. Similar scenerio with X3. They're marketing this with the appearance as if it's the last film. Narnia was my favorite film of 2005. Zathura was up there too. 2 films aimed at children that were done so well it's more like a time trip when you were young again.

Begins did very good considering how dark and mature it was. Fantastic Four was more profitable. Now for a film like Passion of the Christ to do what it did..that was huge. Pirates was huge. Spiderman was huge, etc...

War of the Worlds (77m)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (56 m)
King Kong (50 m)
Batman Begins (48 m)
Star Wars III (108m)
Chronicles of Narnia (65 m)
Mr Mrs Smith (50m)
Fantastic Four (56 m)

To say this film will make Star Wars money in a slump is absurd.

I'm sorry you don't know how to read. I said X3 will make 85 million Fri-Sun, and 100 million Fri-Mon (4 day total). It's a Holiday weekend. I don't think it'll make 108 million over 3 days and I never said that. Narnia and Kong were not Summer films, and actually none of those films besides Star Wars has as rabid of a fan base from the comics and film as X-Men.

I'm willing to bet it will make 60 million for a the weekend, 75 mill TOPS for the 4 day weekend

you just that no film had as much exposure as X3 and didn't open big. well King Kong had MORE exposure and, more or less, performed abysmal it's opening weekend.

Kong did not have more exposure and as much press as X3. 24 tv spots, promo's on Idol and 24, the video game, cell phone games, comic books, deals with 7-11, Burger King, Walmart, Target, Verizon, Mercedes, etc...Not even a fraction. Kong was also a Winter release. Get your facts in order. It also was absurdly long and not as exciting for the younger crowd as X3.

By the way Star Wars made 158 million in it's first 4 days in 2005 in this so called slump, and I'm saying X3 will make 100 million in the same time.

100 million in 4 days.

I know how to read dummy, your point is absurd and foolish considering facts about todays movie climate...sorry, IT.WON'T.HAPPEN 60 to 70 mil would be a liberal estimate.

That's 25 million less than X2 with higher ticket prices and more screens. LMAO You have nothing to bet with.

Here's a virtual handshake for a gentlemans bet. It'll make 60 million in the first 2 days.

yes it did.
endorsement deals with several high profile companies, web journals, a dvd of those journals, toys, games, a novelization, coloring books, posters, god...i don't even remember what else...but King Kong was EVERYWHERE.

i highly doubt X3 is going to make Star Wars money. X-Men doesn't have the same pull as Star Wars. sorry, but SW has a bigger fanbase which lead to it's incredibly high box office.

No you don't know how to read. You said I was touting X3 would make Star Wars #'s which wasn't true, you posted 3 day totals when I was talking 4 day totals, and you had the wrong figures for Star Wars. Nothing you posted was right.

Furthermore X3 doesn't have a ton of exposure comparitively. Star Wars had much more, Da Vinci code has just as much, if not way more. In fact I just went to Beach Weekend and all my friends talked about in the car ride (movie wise) was Da Vinci code and I am in college. So X3 is not the big draw this year overall. It will do well, it won't make 100 mil in its first 4 days, but it will do well considering the movie climate.

I'm thinking that it will make 70-80 million in the first 4 days. They only have BK marketing in international countries btw.

Where in the "F" are you guys getting this comparison to Star Wars?

Star Wars did 158 million in 4 days. I"m saying X3 will make 100.

Still won't make 100 million, period. You're bat-f----crazy for believing so. I said it would not make anything close to Star Wars made, that was a correct statement, neither will it make SM1 money, also a correct statement...I said it would make FF money...You don't know how to think.
