Xbox Xbox Series X|S Thread

Supposedly they’ve done this with Starfield and Forza as well, obnoxiously.

Hmm, didn’t see that pop up for me for some reason. Would bother me if in the middle of a game, otherwise don’t care too much.

I had my xbox x turned on from 10pm to after midnight and did not get that 'update' or achievement

Oh that’s a shame if they didn’t do it for everyone. Was a great idea.

Some Xbox users report now that Microsoft has banned their accounts. Their wrongdoing? They recorded Baldur's Gate 3 game scenes involving nudity. Unless disabled, Xbox uploads the game captures to Microsoft's cloud. There, the automatic nudity and sex detection system kicked in and got the account banned.

Microsoft's Xbox team notes that this is never automatic. A moderator reviews flagged clips and takes actions based on that review. In other words, Xbox moderators view the game scenes, determine that sex or nudity is shown, and ban the account based on the determination.

Banned Xbox users may appeal Microsoft's decision and this may get their account reinstated. Larian, the developer of Baldur's Gate 3, says that it is in talks with Microsoft about these account bans.

I enjoyed that showcase a lot. I'm into all the games and also love seeing behind the scenes with the devs presenting it. I know some don't like that and just want the gameplay but I guess that's what the Developer Direct is for. I hope we get this every Jan going forward.

Microsoft can't fool me. Ara is just Civ.
Ha, well that suits me. I thought this was a better showing for this game than we got at the showcase. Definitely going to be playing this and I'm glad to see more partnerships for pc-focused strategy games.

Jason Schreier, Bloomberg News: "These Xbox layoffs are such a mess that staff across Activision Blizzard are texting *me* to try to find out if they might be impacted. Nearly 2,000 job cuts and people now just have to wait around to see if they're part of the bloodbath"

Another huge round of layoffs. :csad: So many already and we’re only in Jan.

Rumors going around that Microsoft will be going all digital with their games and will no longer be supporting physical media

Not surprising, they wanted to do always-on-line over a decade ago and are pursuing Game Pass and game streaming and subscriptions as their ultimate destination.

I feel like this is thread worthy

I know physical is slowly going away but I'll hang on to the last. Once everything is all digital you lose your rights to ownership and at the whims of the company when they decide to revoke them.

Yeah, it’s a shame for older generations who have grown up with physical collections but still the writing is very much on the wall at this point. PC has been 100% digital for many years, and console game sales become more and more digital dominated every year.

There are games I want to play that have been delisted and it will happen more and more. Ownership can also disappear when devs shut down or lose licenses to music/brands etc (like cars). I will also miss getting collector’s editions of my favourite games.

I haven’t bought a single game physical this generation so I understand why that’s dying it. It is what is is. You loose some things and gain some other things

Seems like Microsoft will go third-party. Starfield, among others, to be on the PS5 and the Switch.

So all that money buying Bethesda to make console exclusives goes to waste. Almost like maybe they should not have done it in the first place.
