Xbox Xbox Series X|S Thread

**** off Phil
Yeah, not good enough. Going to need a better answer than that.

Yeah I wonder how it’s going to sound without Mick Gordon? I will miss him
Very unsavoury what happened there. I hope he finally lands on his feet and gets a good long term gig.

I don't think we're ever going to get one. if anything (at least what other people are saying), we're going to get more layoffs.
It’s been a terrible couple of years on that front. I hope it can come to an end soon. Execs should be grilled much more in depth if they want to sanction this stuff.

speaking of execs getting grilled, here's what Spencer had to say

Yeah, doesn’t really cut it. More execs need to lose their jobs for their planning failures rather than always the devs.

Yeahhhhh I think I saw an ign article that showed that gamers voted Xbox for having the best showcase. The future is looking brighter!
Did you watch it? It was way better than I expected. Can’t remember many showcases with that many interesting games.

or...the execs can just accept some damn paycuts so that the people beneath them don't have their lives ruined.

I didn't get a chance to, but I heard a lot of great things about it!

Sea of Thieves was always one I thought would do well by expanding. Live service in general so same goes for Grounded. I don’t see the point of keeping these exclusive. Single player games should be though or the console will die off.

It’s worth checking out still if you get a chance. Unless you’ve seen most of the individual trailers anyway.

There certainly needs to be consequences if people make decisions or mismanage in a way that leads to unnecessary job losses.

dunno how reliable this guy is but we've already seen it happen once this year so...

Is that for last week? I didn’t hear about layoffs unless he meant the coming week. I’m not sure if he’s saying they’re happening because he’s heard of this person being laid off or that he has intel that more widespread layoffs are incoming last/next week.

I would take that to mean he's very reliable, then.
It’s the same dude you asked about last time. :funny:

Yeah he would be reliable but I’m not sure he’s saying that anything is incoming beyond the fact that as someone is being laid off it means layoffs are happening. Like me or you could have posted the same thing if it was our friend getting laid off. It would be accurate that layoffs are happening this week if we know of people who are getting laid off, without suggesting we know anything beyond that.

maybe I am just getting old. I can't keep track of the names of these insiders, or these journalists anymore. none except for Jason Schreier.

I dunno about that. considering what already happened this year, I'm inclined to believe things are gonna continue to get worse for the employees of Xbox. Or should I see, Microsoft Gaming.

Haha, no prob, just thought it was funny.

Oh they certainly could (probably will) get worse, and there could easily be more layoffs regardless of this. But if there aren’t any announced by the end of this week then the tweet could just have been commenting that layoffs are happening as a result of seeing that person getting laid off. That could be normal layoffs rather than where they let hundreds go at once. Not sure unless the dude says more to clear up the context.

ah, I see what you're saying. you're right, unfortunately alongside layoffs that are the size of seismic shifts like the ones Microsoft pulled earlier this year, regular workplace layoffs happen too. I guess the only way to find out is wait to see what happens. either more info will come out, or nothing will come out which would reaffirm your assertions, or announcements of more layoffs comes out.

In May, I received a tip that Microsoft is changing up its Xbox strategy for the new financial year in the EMEA regions. I haven't been able to fully verify this, but the tipster claimed Microsoft will stop marketing Xbox consoles in certain markets in EMEA and focus only on Game Pass, cloud gaming, PC, and Xbox controllers. Microsoft has been struggling to sell Xbox Series S / X consoles in many countries across EMEA, and the tipster believes Microsoft will now allocate less console stock to Europe as a result. If you've heard more, please let me know.

A few weeks after I received this tip, Xbox tweeted: "No console, no problem 🔥" in a post on X about the new Xbox app for Fire TV sticks. If Microsoft is genuinely rethinking its console strategy across Europe, it will be interesting to see where stock is allocated for its
