So... they're telling religious people how to act by mocking religion. Yup, that makes sense.

It doesn't seem to be mocking religion so much as mocking how people abuse/misinterpret it.

The entire concept of "Pastafarianism" was invented to mock Creationism. I know. I was there. I was there when the strength of Men failed...

Pointing out the hypocrisy of overzealous and ignorant practitioners isn't the same as mocking religion.

That wasn't what Pastafarianism was doing. It was mocking the entire concept of a Supreme Being, said Supreme Being creating the universe, and people who believed in such. That's pretty much the definition of mocking religion.

That's not how the FSM gospel reads. It's all about the twisted and hypocritical pratices that people do in the name of God.

And you do realize that the "FSM gospel" originated out of mocking religion. Seriously, look up Pastafarianism on Wikipedia or something.

It wasn't created necessarily to mock religion, but to mock the idea of teaching intelligent design in schools. The basic idea is, if you're going to teach the belief of an unprovable supernatural force in a science class, you might as well say that a bowl of spaghetti is responsible for everything. Understanding the world through measurement and proof is science, whether of not the earth was intelligently designed is philosophy.
