You KNEW, deep down, it was inevitable......Jaws V

"Universal Home Entertainment are prepping a fifth JAWS movie as one of their direct-to-dvd premieres. The studio wants to go head to head with Warner's DEEP BLUE SEA 2, which is also going direct to dvd, and also centres on killer sharks. One idea that has been suggested to the studio for JAWS 5 is that they completely forget about what happened in JAWS 3 and JAWS 4 and again have Roy Scheider's character, Brody, returning to do battle. Since Scheider isn't keen on doing any more JAWS film, it'll take some tough negotiations. At present, the only returning element of the series is..... yep, you guessed it, John Williams' iconic music score."
Uh, killer sharks? How very unnatural behaviour by fish filled with razor sharp, serated teeth.

Couldn't they have at least gone with 'Man Eating' sharks, to at least give some degree of abnormality to it. Not just describing what it does on a daily basis to survive.

(Note: Yeah, I'm aware of vegetarian Sharks.)
This single picture...

....is more exciting and scary than the entire of Jaws 3D.
That is a fantastic picture, though the Shark doesn't appear to be gearing up for an attack, you'd still be panicing.

At least the Jaws franchise was ruined a long time ago, unlike Gremlins. We've got to sit through that coming. :(

As I'm sure you know, sharks like to scout around their food, investigate before they take a bite. This shark could just give the canoe a few nudges with his nose, which would be scary enough.

Jaws is one movie where I wouldnt be apposed to a good remake. An updated shark, maybe 1/2 cgi 1/2 mechanical. good actors. get speilberg invloved. I'd hit it. Make it a cover, like the new omen, rather than a remake. that would be neat,

The only thing worse than that idea is your grammar.

They could just do another movie based on the book, not the original movie.

Yeah, I want to see that Hooper/Ellen Brody affair. They could even make it a teen sex comedy! And release a 'Jaws Unseen - Extra footage too rude for the cinema' DVD.

Years ago when I frequented the JAWS Movie Board, a few ideas were thrown around for a 5th installment. The most famous being associated with Quint and his experience on the Indianapolis.

The other (if I remember correctly) with Hooper returning to battle a Great White. I think the opening dealt with a man trying to commit suicide. He jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge, only to survive the fall and...well you know the rest.

Anways, I love that line in JAWS 2 where Brody asks the scientist, "You don't think if a shark was destroyed, another one could come...?" and she replies, "sharks don't take things personally."

WELL THE JOKES ON YOU B@$%#!!!!!

This sucks, what they need to do is remake it instead.

This sucks, what they need to do is remake it instead.

Why?

Because of the shark?

You may get a more convincing shark, but you'd loose the amazing performances, direction, cinematography and editing. In fact, everything in the film is near-perfect apart from the shark.

Not a good trade-off if you ask me.

If they did a re-make...it would NEED to have David Hasslehoff.

It's the only way I would enjoy it.mwhahaaaa

IN THEATRES THIS SUMMER

anyone who thinks a Jaws remake is a good idea needs to go their local BART or similar subway system and lick the third rail

That thread blows though. It got off topic:csad:

Well, that sure as hell wasn't my fault. You'll notice I was only one of, what, TWO people in there actually talking about the main topic.

Anyway, back on topic, here's the apparent synopsis of the film as it stands now, http://www.filmrot.com/articles/news/007727.php#post.

So judging by this synopsis, we're getting the beginning of Jaws: The Revenge, the middle of Jaws 2, and the end of Deep Blue Sea. Marvelous. You'd have thought after THREE successively-inferior rehashes and 20 years of ridicule, Universal would have learned something.

Well there's a great white shark swimming toward him.

Please, don't give them any ideas. :csad:

I love your avatar. If I was Senor Maguire, I'd be doing some last minute script re-writes on Spider-Man 3, if you know what I mean. And I think you do.
