he doesnt have a deep/powerful enough voice..... ITS ALL ABOUT THE VOICE.

the only man ive ever heard that can match ians voice is christopher lee.
and they were in LOTR together! (like jackie chan and jet li being together! )

yeah, as far as acting talent and vocal abilities, I highly doubt any of todays younger actors can match that level of perfection. Ian McKellen is an artist in his craft, it's very difficult to see anyone else bring across Magneto as well as he has. Whoever they cast, God help him.

Seriously, there is a resemblance there. If not to play Magneto, then to play Quicksilver is another X-spinoff

at 45, he's still a lot younger then Ian McKellen(67), though I do see the resembles, and I think he could pull it off, hes to recognizable from his other roles, like "spike", and most poeple wouldn't be able to get over that.

i have come to the conclusion noone can play Magneto in any possible spinoff except McKellen; i will not accept a POS actor getting the part just on looks.

I guess it depends on if its for a new actors to bet he star of the movie or just younger versiond of him to play him in quick flash backs, like the one at teh begining of x1

well if Paul Bettany is not cast as Joker....then I think Bettany would be an ideal choice as a younger version Lenchnerr/Magneto.

Has anyone considered Ewan McGregor yet? He's got the acting ability and I think he could pull off the look as well.

He's 35 so he'd be just around the right age to play most any part in Magneto's life.

Whoever plays Magneto, needs to be an incredible actor to fallow in Ian Mckellon's footsteps. It's going to be hard seeing someone else in that role.

I don't think were talking about casting someone to replace him completely, just younger versions of him for flash back scene or what not, thought I thought they did a good job of making him look 20 years yonger in the movie.

The technology they used to make Ian look younger was fine for X3, but they were sitting down the whole time. Ian just doesn't have the body language of a younger man. Happens to everyone with age.

James Marsters would be a great young adult Magneto. since we know he can act as both as a good and evil character as Spike.
