In the movie, Magneto will be in his late 20s. And McGregor is 36. I know that he looks young, but still he is too old.

Do we really know if he will be in his twenties? Because he will have a wife and kids. I don't think there's a problem at all on Ewan playing him.

In one script review says that Magneto and Charles are in their late 20s.

I don't know. He looks like him in some pictures; not in others.

Is he a good actor?

Personally, I was thinking of the guy who played Hannibal in Hannibal Rising. He's got the right look and he can play the origin of a madman pretty well.

I'm definitely against type-casting.

I'd be alright with him if they had to go with a big name. But, like others have mentioned, I think they'd be better off finding a no-name.

I'd say either just do what they did to him in X3 in the first part, where he looks like 30 years younger, and if not they they should just use Karl Urban

While I initialy thought of this guy for Xavier when I looked at the pic I immediately thought Magneto. Its Jonathan Rhys Meyers from Mission Impossible 3.

yeah, as far as acting talent and vocal abilities, I highly doubt any of todays younger actors can match that level of perfection. Ian McKellen is an artist in his craft, it's very difficult to see anyone else bring across Magneto as well as he has. Whoever they cast, God help him.

Tell me about it, whoever they decide on casting has some astronomical shoes to fill! Ian McKellan is the greatest comic movie villain ever!

Now that I think about it. They could of casted Ben Foster as Magneto! He has the evil within him to pull off this part magnificently. **** X-Men 3, not only did it ruin the ending to a wornderful franchise. It also stole our Magneto!
