Perhaps if the 5 choices people made were the only films they could see next year...

1. The Force Awakens
2. Jurassic World
3. Spectre

They're the only thing I'm super excited for.

Most of the movies on the poll and in lists aren't anything I've heard of, others get a big "meh" of indifference, and a few are movies I won't see unless it comes on TV one day.
What are you doing here if you have so little interest in films?

It is very interesting to see a difference in taste across forums. Most on here prefer bigger blockbusters to smaller scale films. I ususally try and see the more arthouse flicks first... before getting my sugar rush with blockbusters later.

Trouble is the bigger films have the most exposure and are already on your radar because of the hype machines making them at the front of your conciousness. The smaller scale films we may not know about yet or have a trailer out yet.

Even though those are my top 5 most anticipated, my actual top 5 will no doubt turn out very different in the end. No doubt everyone of us will be like that.

Is there a sign saying "film buffs only" somewhere that I haven't noticed?

I'm a fan of superheroes. That's why I'm here.

Most definitely.

DOFP and Winter Soldier were on my top ten list at the beginning, I had to leave them out after more films came out.

Does anyone else besides me think this year looks a bit lackluster?

To me it's just another year. Not lackluster, not epic. It's just another year like 2014 was just another year. There will be movies I like and as usual most movies(a good 95% at least) I won't give the time of day to.

Amen. I'm the same way. A 'film fan' I certainly am not.

I most likely won't be. I think only 2 films on my most anticipated list for 2014 failed to make my top 10 of the year(TASM2 and Godzilla) and I don't think I had even one show up on the top 10 unexpectedly.

Indeed, in fact the films I'm most excited for are the ones I know nothing about, the ones that come out of left field and are a complete surprise. There's been a couple like that this year, not many, but some and I hope 2015 has some nice surprises up its sleeve.

It can go both ways I guess, at least what you were looking forward turned out to be the ones you actually liked. No bad thing.

The trouble is the over exposure of the BIG films, sometimes you feel like you know the entire plot before you even enter the cinema these days.

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I'm a SW fanatic, there is no other option.

2. Furious 7

I'm honestly not as huge on these films as others are, I find most of the crew unlike-able and often times the action gets too cartoony. But, they accomplished a casting masterstroke with getting Jason Statham as the villain out to terminate them with extreme prejudice. Not only that, but I'm interested to see how James Wan, capable of putting more intelligent genre stuff than the other director's who'd done the franchise, handles having a villain entirely justified in his actions.

3. Chappie

Elysium let a lot of people down, but not me. I'm completely in love with Blomkamp's style and complete lack of subtlety. It reminds me of Paul Verhoeven's approach.

4. Jupiter Ascending

This one looks bugnuts and I love what the Wachowskis are capable of when they're completely unfiltered.

5. The Hateful Eight

It's QT making a tight thriller like Reservoir Dogs, while maintaining his spaghetti western style with an awesome cast. What part of that doesn't sound awesome?

I'd also like to include a shout out to The Martian which doesn't appear on the poll. It's a Ridley Scott sci-fi.

Gee looks like a great year for spy films. I'm not suprised when I think about it after all Hollywood reflects society and the Cold War is coming back.

Hey you know who would make an interesting spy film? Quentin Tarantino
