BP and Songbird would make me LOVE the Avengers! I really did want to see Cap-Bucky team up with Iron Man & Thor on an Avengers team, but alas, this may not happen now.

In my opinion the Avengers are a very different team than the Justice League because unlike the Justice League which pretty much has it's roster permanently set to the Big 7 and then some, the Avengers allows the B-listers to thrive. I would like to see the Avengers be a big team filled with all the A-listers, but primarily have them there really to just fill in space and interact and whatnot, with the vast majority of the characterization focused on the B-listers, the A-listers don't even have to be there all the time:

So with all the different Avengers books out there now ripping the name and reputation of the Avengers in multiple directions I started wondering what they could do to get me really interested in The Avengers again. For me the first thing would be to only have one team calling themselves Avengers. So the question is if Marvel dropped the Avengers in your lap and said assemble the greatest team ever who would make your cut?

For me the roster would be.

here' how I'd do Avengers.
The Avengers become a legitimate peace keeping force for the UN.
Tony Stark would be the Avengers director and the one who has to answer to the UN Peacekeeping committee while Captain America is the Operations leader.
Then every superhero who was ever an Avenger is given a card. Cap then builds his teams based on the needs of the mission. Fighting an enemy underwater??? Leave Spider-man at home and pick Namor and Stingray. Need a mucsle team to take on the Hulk going crazy again....She Hulk, Ironman, Wonderman, Thor and Hercules are on call.

Truth be told, I would probably put this under Marvel Knights as opposed to Avengers maybe, but Hey! I didn't know where else to put them.
