Monica Breen and Alison Schapker have been hired to pen a rewrite of J.J. Abrams' top-secret project "Zanbato" at Paramount Pictures reports Deadline.
The story involves Japanese history and robotics. A 'zanbato' is an especially large type of Japanese sword, also called a "horse-chopping saber" as it's thought to be an anti-cavalry weapon that could kill a horse and rider in one swing.
Breen and Schapker were showrunners on ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" and have worked as producers on three other Abrams shows - "Alias," "Lost" and "Fringe", the latter of which they just recently signed a deal to co-executive produce the fourth season for. The pair are also said to be developing another show for Abrams' Bad Robot.
