Iran is really only hostile to Israel because of its own humanitarian crisis record and for being such a strong supporter of America's imperialist policies in the Middle East. The American addiction to fossil fuels will probably do the same thing thanks to Global Warming in about 100 years anyway too.

I didn't say America was not increasing in energy inefficiency at all, but very little progress has been made. The amount of money to build a high speed rail line in California for example costs something like about what it costs the US to stay in Afghanistan or Iraq for a few months. More coal burning plants and more vehicles using oil are made than clean energy plants.

There is more negative US media attention over Iran's increase in weapons production and threats causing petrol prices to rise compared to positive production stories. America has produced more weapons and directly and indirectly started or intervened more armed conflicts in the Middle East than any nation that it actually there today.

I would consider one act of opening a nuclear power plant (which the US energy and military-industrial complex loves to hack) more progressive for the environment as a nation than the impact of the US.

We use fossil fuels for more than just running our cars. Plastics, dashboards, etc. It's in everything. And we use them to run our cars, because at the moment alternate energy vehicles aren't really that efficient or practical. Evem electric cars run off of electricity from coal. I will agree with you that polution is bad, I don't think anyone will argue that. But I don't think global warming works the way the majority of the people worried about it thinks it does. Our Earth is cyclical in climate, going through changes all the time (things like the ozone layer are important to keep safe, though).

I'm not really sure what you're saying in the bolded part.

And America has way more than one power plant. So, aren't we more progressive then, if having a nuclear power plant is progressive? I might be misunderstanding you. And given Iran's President (and Supreme Leader) saying so many times that he wants to cause bloodshed so the 12th Imam can come and end the world, I REALLY don't want them to have nuclear capabilities.

For the the very negative information put out about Iran, I never hear any praise of a great move for being one of the first Middle Eastern countries for embracing more green technology. That in itself is proof of being more sophisticated than America and concerned about the shape of the planet.

So showing evidence of possible responsibility in a single area and industry puts them leagues ahead of America in terms of "sophistication?" :whatever:

Also if you're refering to ambitions of nuclear power running their country, nuclear power has a lot of its own issues. While burning carbon fuels leads to one type of pollution, nuclear waste isnt exactly the most pleasent product to deal with.

Global warming is manmade, not a natural cycle. Another one of those is not due for another 2,000 years as is scene in the fossil record on its historic average. Climate change is accelerating it to happen within about 200 years.
Having more nuclear plants than Iran doesn't erase the general negative impact or what could be called a "debt" to the environment. Iran will see itself nuked before it can even touch Israel, and not with American weapons. Remember Israel has about 80 nukes in an unaccounted stockpile that is not criticized or made accountable by Western sources. One weapon built by Tehran won't outmatch that firepower at all. I don't even worry about them when Pakistan had no idea Osama Bin Laden was near its own capital, let alone know what's going on with its own nuclear arsenal of about 100 weapons. A nuclear attack on India is more alarming than threats from Iran to Israel. Besides, comments like that have been being made since 1979 and only brought back into the spotlight by US media since the Iraq War began. Iranians are very mad because of the CIA installed Shah dictatorship and the US supporting Iraq in the 1981 invasion of its borders. They are mad over things the US and Israel provoked and supported, but yet due cling to a radical version of Islam too that has a harsh human rights record.

I'm not sure if Israel is confirmed to have nukes, but I do agree that it is probable. I'd be surprised if they didn't. There were definitely elements in Pakistani government that knew about Osama, there is no possible they can be that incompetent. Pakistan may want to nuke India, I agree there too, but that doesn't mean Iran trying to destroy Israel means nothing.

I gotta go to bed now, but I'll be doing some more research tomorrow. It's pretty much all I ever do (autodidact).

And had it not been for Hitler we wouldn't have the Volkswagen.........so?

Or freeways, jet-powered aircraft, long-range bombers, missiles, any space programs, atomic energy or bombs, etc.

Even the most evil in history, can develop new technologies. Without much of Nazi Germany many things would not have developed. Sadly it took war for the most park to get it started though.

Heck, if my country was constantly under threat of invasion i'd freaking have nukes too. :) And maybe killer robots.

The US needs to demonize India, Pakistan, and Israel to sign a non-proliferation treaty before Iran even becomes an issue. If they all did that I bet there would not nearly be as much worry about Iran wanting one at all.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the release of the american hikers in Iran.

Ahmadinejad and his Twelfth Imam is coming schitick is starting to disturb me more than usual.

OOHH I think these were the two guys that HUGO CHAVEZ helped to get out of prison

Iran planning to send ships near U.S. waters

Iran plans to send ships near the Atlantic coast of the United States, state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported Tuesday, quoting a commander.
"The Navy of the Iranian Army will have a powerful presence near the United States borders," read the headline of the story, in Farsi.

"Commander of the Navy of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran broke the news about the plans for the presence of this force in the Atlantic Ocean and said that the same way that the world arrogant power is present near our marine borders, we, with the help of our sailors who follow the concept of the supreme jurisprudence, shall also establish a powerful presence near the marine borders of the United States," the story said. The reference to the "world arrogant power" was presumably intended to refer to the United States.

I doubt the US navy will let them get anywhere close to the borders. The Iranians know this and wont bother sending their ships all this way for nothing. This is just grandstanding. They want us to make a deal with them.
