šŸ€ NBA: Let’s Get Hoop’d

Some owners would do better to fire themselves rather than the coaches who take a clearly flawed, and injured, team to the east finals.

Speaking of Van Gundy, a long, long time ago when he was coaching, being the feisty guy that he is, he got into a scuffle with someone from the other team. I don't remember if it was one of the coaches or players or what, but what I do remember clearly is that when he got up, his combover was sticking straight up in the air and he had what looked like a mohawk. :funny:
My greatest memory of Van Gundy was him grabbing Alonzo Mourning’s leg while a fight was going on. Zo went after someone on the Knicks and he was trying to run across the floor, dragging Van Gundy along with him.

If I was a coach, I wouldn't want Zo going after one of my guys either. LOL

I'll bet Van Gundy took some ribbing after that one, but I'll bet his guys appreciated it (albeit while shaking their heads and laughing). Van Gundy looks like something that fell out of Zo's pocket.

Knicks/Heat was such an amazing rivalry in the 90’s. Every game basically included a brawl. My favorite being when PJ Brown threw Charlie Ward like a rag doll into the press seated on the end zone.

While Oakley only played for the Knicks at the end of the 80s, I don't seem to remember anyone trying that with Charles........

That shot is crazy..... :funny: EDIT: Maybe a flagrant 2 in today's game???

are you sure he didn't play for them in the 90s?

in my head a i have a lineup of Starks, Houston, Mason, Oakley, Ewing. did i just piecemeal that together? possibly!

if not Houston, maybe Mark Jackson or Derek Harper?

I’m dying here! All of a sudden I haven’t been able to get ABC in on my airtv. So I missed the game.

But I would’ve been ticked if I’d have seen the Thunder lose.

How the heck did that happen?

Hali hit a jumper with .03 left. the ONLY time the pacers led last night. they'd be down 12, then it was 6, down 15, next thing i knew it was a 1-point game

Oh.....he certainly did and for quite some time. I was just commenting on the Heat / Knicks rivalry in the 80s.

Knicks-Heat, Knicks-Pacers, Knicks-Bulls...

Knicks had some crazy and memorable rivalry back in the 90s.

By the way...

Desmond Bane got traded to the Orlando Magic.

If Memphis wants to rebuild...then watch out for Ja and JJJ to be shipped next...
Heard the Knicks already eyeing JJJ to pair him with KAT (if they do that, guess the price would be Mikal and Hart, OG is untouchable, I think)

SGA
Luka
Wemby
Giannis
Jokic

bench:
Jamal Murray etc etc

Team USA eek, i'm nervous for ya

The bench for international is also deep...
Murray, Andrew Nembhard, OG Anunoby, Sengun, Siakam, Franz Wagner, Lauri Markannen, Domas, KAT (because he's representing Dominican).
the international bench by themselves will make a very solid team!!

More than All star game, I am more dreading of team USA chance in the '28 Olympics.
there will be no LBJ, Curry, and KD this time around to save the day...only Ant and JT (assuming he's the same player after his injury).
the rest, Jalen Brunson, Jaylen Brown, Haliburton, Fox, Donovan Mitchell, Booker, Paolo, with AD and Bam (and maybe JJJ) as the only bigs...yeah I am not sold on this roster.

Unless of course Cooper Flagg is a generational player that can save team USA

I really dislike the Pacers.

i am the opposite...
I don't know, there is something about this OKC team that prevented me from liking them.
I especially don't like Dort and Caruso the way they constantly smacked their opponent face and body but didnt get the whistle from the refs...

This is what boggling my mind a little, when OKC plays physical, the refs allowed it (game 4 especially was pure shame from this standpoint) but when their opponent return the favor by playing the same aggresiveness? its a foul!

As someone who could care less about either team, I see the refs letting all the players get away with a lot. I saw several instances of someone getting hit pretty hard while going to the hoop and no foul being called. Some of them even resulted in turnovers. The grabbing they seem to be calling, but there's a awful lot of upper body contact that's throwing people off while shooting that the refs are silent on. Maybe that's just playoff hoops........

Seems to me that they are letting players be aggressive so long as their footwork is solid. If you have position, they aren’t calling, even if both players have position. They are calling instances where players are playing d with their hands though.
But it is going both ways, and they are also allowing a lot of aggressiveness on offense as well. There was one play last night where Pascal Siakam drove in and dipped his shoulder, got position and then pushed off a bit with his elbow on a drive. It could’ve easily been an offensive foul, but he had bullied his way to position and the defender got called.
